Pretty nifty! Would work well in a garage or something small. I'd be more worried about whatever was plugged into it being left unattended.

Your thought is for use with the block heater? If so, it's close but would need a probe to read the block temp. I guess you could always use it to run a space heater in the cab of the truck, lol.

I have had a similar unit in the insulated box that hangs on the shop wall and houses the pressure tank/switch for the well-pump, which resides at the bottom of the well, for a number of years.

The one I have has two outlets, controlled by the one thermostat.

I have a heat-lamp, hanging inside the box, plugged into one side, and a drop-light, hanging outside the box, where I can see it, plugged into the other side; when the temperature gets cold enough, the thermostat turns on the heat-lamp, to keep the water from freezing, and the drop-light, so that I can see that the heat-lamp should be on; thus, if I see the drop-light is ON, and the heat-lamp is not ON, then I better check the bulb.

That would work well for a winter storage heater in an RV.

I like the Thermocube better where you can buy models that actually are needed to preheat your truck. I don't care to plug in my block heater at 38deg.
I usually plug it in at less than 20deg and leave it on all night.
Here in MN after November there isn't a day where temps go over 50deg.... ...until March

Also
would need a probe to read the block temp.
why would you need to "read" the block temp ? When it's cold outside it's cold everywhere regardless of your block temp.

I have one of those under my well cover with a light bulb plugged into it to keep pipes from freezing.
