I was just in Breckenridge CO, last week, let me tell you guys the ole cummins was like a coal train. Going from Kansas to Colorado was a big change in power. I smoked out so many bikers on the hills, why because there is 50 miles of paved bike trails for them to ride. I dont feel a sorry for them they deserve to smell see every single once of $3.25 gallon diesel I roal out my tail pipe. Ow, I love my power puck in the mountains with my 30ft 5th wheel, really dont see the biker anymore at the stop light after 1st gear

Biker, cyclist here too. There is a general lack of situational awareness by drivers. I've been run off the road, merged on, and almost sandwiched on my motorcycles, people have run me off the road on my bike, thrown stuff at me and run into parked cars.

What is it about a cyclist that makes you want to injure us? A nudge, blackout condition, etc can be catastrophic on a bike- are they honestly that much of an annoyance?

There are definately some cyclists that don't obey the law, but there are just as many bad drivers out there that break the law as well, but the fact remains that when bad things happen to us, we die, and that probably makes us a little more bitter.

Do you bicycle regularly? The same routes get boring, and much of cycling is enjoying the ride.

Sharing the road with cars is a great way to get where you are going- when I ride my bike to work, its the only way to get to work. On top of that, its the LAW. In Az, Bicycles are NOT ALLOWED on sidewalks- only roads where we are required to lanesplit with traffic. A car is required to give a bike approx 6 ft of clearance when passing. *** should I get an exercise bike for? Thats like telling you to sell your diesel and go play in your room with a Matchbox toy.

There are a lot of places out there where the road can offer much better scenery/sights than a paved bike path. As stated above, enjoying a different route is part of the fun of riding.

I'd bet that if the people here in the threads that are talking about smoking bikers out rode a bike just one day on city streets or mountain roads they would NOT be singing the same song. Did any of you in this thread never get your training wheels taken off? This thread reminds me of why I'm more of a mountain biker than a road rider.

I wont argue that bikers dont have a right to be on teh roads. What flames me is the attitude that I have run into from bikers.
I live in a rural area, blacktop road.. there is a converted RR bed that was built for the bikers, its over 150 miles long, so I am sure they havent ridden all of it. I am also hafl way between Topeka nad Lawrnce, and we get alot of bikers from teh college town who think that the area is a prk for thier enjoyment, and the rest of us can kiss their"seats"
I have crested a hill, doing 40-45 mph pulling the horse trailer and been confronted by 12-15 bikers stopped in the lane. Wanna know what it does to my livestock to slam on teh brakes and swerve to avoid killing one of these morons? Wanna think what it does to me to be put in that situation? hmmm risk my familys life or kill this idiot..... and I have seen this happen many many times
The road is used regularly for "rallys" and races.. they have set up "rest stations" in my brome pasture without so much as a by-your-leave and then cursed me when i told them to get out and go to teh parkign area a half mile down teh road...
I have put my truck in teh ditch more than once to avoid these guys and had one actually laugh when I did it... Over the past ten years, I have had trash thrown in my pastures, rocks thrown at teh horses, almost been forced off the road more than I can remmeber to avoid hitting them, and had the sheriff called on ME when they decided my driveway was a bathroom, and the dogs told them otherwise...( no I didnt set the dogs on them, tho i didnt call them back either)

SO ... I think its fair to say it not so much BIKERS that anyone has a problem with... its IDIOTS and MORONS( cant use the words I'd like to)...
And quite honestly, I cant say I'd ever have felt sorry hearing any of those guys got hurt by a vehicle, not when they behave the way they do....

to me, if I was on a 20 lb bike and faced with a 3 ton vehicel, I'd move...I know i am more manuverable than that truck......

There's a big difference between

......................"Bikers" ...................... and .............................. "Cyclists".

Pet peeve, kinda like calling a magazine a clip.

We've discussed the subject of bicyclists on the road before on several locked threads.
There's nothing new here.
We all need to SHARE the road.

We need to recognize that cyclists have a right to be there.
They need to realize that 200 pounds < 8,000 pounds.
