Had to smoke a couple of bikers....
Coming home yesterday down a very narrow and windy road with no shoulder on either side. Well i come around a curve and there are three bike riders slowly making their way up the hill. I have to come to a complete stop because one of them decides he's tired and will stop. I see the coast has cleared and I have to mash the pedal to pass them before another car comes around the curve. Well, running the Predator on Extreme creates quite a bit of smoke when you do this and, well I don't really need to explain it but I bet they looked like chimney sweeps when the smoke finally cleared up!!!
Why do bike riders always choose the most unsafe roads to ride on when there are so many marked bike paths around here????

why do they feel that they must ride side by side, when they obviously can hear us coming ? I realize they like to ride a bit off the shoulder to stay out of the cracks in the road with those tiny tires, but dang, why hog the road??? Other thing that makes me crazy is why do people that are out "walking for excercise " feel the need to walk on the road, when there is a perfectly good sidewalk along the road??? c'mon, I know most of them are wide bodies, but I think the sidewalk can handle it !

When I was in school, I had to go down a little county road, same thing-narrow, and Id always get behind them uphill so I couldnt pass. Id pull out on the downhill side, and theyd try to race me.of course, they ended up covered in soot and flipping me off....everyday lol.

That's funny MikeD. If they survived without smoke inhalation damage then you are probably right! It was kind of funny looking in the rearview and only seeing the bottom of the wheels through the smoke cloud.
They were not side by side though. They were in single file but of course they were about 1-2 feet into the lane and my truck barely fits inside the lines...
I agree on the walker thing too. Is the street that much more comfortable to walk on then the sidewalk???? I thought they used the same hard concrete on both!!!
And Cummins Freak, Come on now! You know I "HAD" to do it! It was unsafe for me to drive slowly in that situation.

oh don't get me started, there is this stupid woman here in town that thinks she is a marathoner.note i say "thinks" well we have a nice bike/walking path around most of our lake here in town.well that evidently isn't good enough for her she has to run on the road.which in turn pisses everybody off.i was behind this old man one day,the previous day it had rained like 3-4 inchs, well as you see in the movies,he didn't budge one inch and hit this puddle and just whailed on her.i about crashed i was laughing so hard.you would think she would get the message, but no she still runs on the road.i think shes just waiting for somebody to hit her so she can sue the pants off em.believe me i've waited for about 5 years for the perfect time to make a chimney sweep out of her.her day will come.

I think that Boulder county, CO is by far the bicycliest place in the country. Bike riders pay zero attention to cars, they feel they own the road, the mountains and everything around. A friend told me another day that he saw about 15 bicyclists on the road riding totally naked. In the mountains they ride side by side, and 3 feet from the shoulder. They flip you off, stop in the middle of the road and are often really inconsiderate. The only worse case than them I had was a climber. On my way fishing early one morning, I came around a curve and slammed the brakes: there is this climber, hanging on his rope 5 feet from the pavement over the middle of my lane, getting ready to start pulling up. Luckily I stopped in time not to splat him all over the windshield. When I came to a halt he yelled an obscenity to me and flipped me off, then slowly went up. What are we gonna do.

I live in Grand Junction CO. We have lots of cyclists here and I try and be nice. Well....One day after spending the weekend in Moab Utah rock crawling. Im almost out of town. Im in my first gen with PODs pump cranked... you get the picture. I have a cabover camper on and a car trailer with my rock crawler on and 2 cyclist are sitting in the slow lane at a red light, light turns green and Im rolling up behind them and one guy is sitting on hisbike with feet on the ground and hands behind his head. Im still rolling and I rev the motor and they look back and slowly start to go. They cross the intersection and dont go in the bike lane they stay in my lane. Im right behind them and rev that thing to the governor they slowly move over and I proceed by....Opps I hit 4th gear at about 20MPH Wow those PODs will put out the smoke Just before I lost view of them in the smoke I saw one of them stopped with foot on the curb and trying to cover his face Im glad the old girl didnt fail me cause I know they were not happy.

Being both a Cummins driver AND a bicycilist, as well as a taxpayer, this sort of discussion infurates me. Your general lack of both intelligence and respect are astounding. Perhaps bicyclists ought to start carrying thier own defense mechainisms (think hard and you''ll figure this out) and be given the right to utilize them in self-defense. They ARE legally allowed on the road, and yes, I agree, they should use Common Sense with regard to where they ride. Those I ride with are curtious to cars & trucks and stay out of the way whenever possible - but no one's perfect here either.
Keep on pickin' on the "little guys." Yea, that shows how much of a MAN you all really are. Fools in the making...guess that's what this world is coming too.
