Got my letter yesterday!

I got my TCEQ letter in the mail yesterday.......

On 9/20/2005 at approxemately 1:10pm, a concerned citizen reported observing a vehicle with Texas lic# BLAH at HWY6 in Sugarland emitting excessive visible exhaust emissions (smoke) which persited for more than 10 seconds. If this is your vehicle, please examine its exhaust for dirty or excessive smoke.

Anyone gotten this yet?

Is that just a Texas thing? Never heard of a smoke letter.

Better run out and check to make sure you don't have any soot showing. Serious engine problems would be involved.

I would send a the letter back to them. Saying...
Thank you for your concern. Did find the root cause with the excessive smoke. The problem was my right foot!

I expect mine any day! I live in Pecan grove and there is a billboard up now on Highway 90 Just before reaching Richmond. It gives a number to call for smoking vehicles I saw it about a week ago.

Mine smokes pretty good, but I can't seem to make it consistant. Now one of the guys I work with has stage 3's and he can lug it down in 5th and smoke out 3 or 4 lanes

Was there a fine attached? I got a letter from the tollway with a picture of my truck. My easy tag was not working for some reason. The picture was taken from the back right side. You could see my pipe. If I would have only known I could have made a great avitar photo!

I got one of those letters about 3 years ago, and I was in Lake Jackson when someone reported me. Sad thing is my truck smokes twice as much as it did back then. It seems like most of the people I hear about getting these letters are all in east TX.

Normal daily driving I unplug the EZ, unload the Triple Dog and set the HOT Juice to level 1. Still will smoke a little, but not too bad. However there are times I run with everything on and it smokes like a modded 12v. Guess I will expect a letter someday soon.

Yea, I thought Maryland was bad until my step-dad told me about the trucks that sit at on-ramps in Texas evaluating emissions on cars as they accelerate onto the highway.

I see at least two of those emmisions trucks a week. They set up with a camera and their equipment and sample you as you are accellerating up the ramp.

I thought about smoking one out, but then since these guys mail tickets, I thought it might be a bad idea.

I have been meaning to take a picture of one, but never seem to have my camera handy when I see them.

As long as you can smoke enough for them to not get your liscence #, then you wont get a ticket Nothing like that in Ky so far from what i have seen.

My nextdoor neighbor retired from that outfit... He said the real reason they recently changed the name to TCEQ from TNRCC, was that everybody kept calling it "TRAINWRECK"...
He said working for them was like being in one...

You should drive around with a burning barrel in your bed. Leaves put off good smoke
