Got "dipped" in Minn.
Got dipped Sat in Lake City. I'm driving along and saw an "old guy" in a bright green jacket walking across the road. I thought I'd be a nice guy and slowed down to let him cross and he pulls out a "stop SIGN" and waves me over. Then I saw the HP car behind his Suburban.
"oh oh, now what" I'm thinking. I just got my new tags and everything else works.....oh oh even the straight pipe!!!
So the guy says he has to test the fuel. He then dips the tank. I had just put 5 gal of my winter fuel which is loaded with PS and 911 to burn it up.
Well no problem with the tank so he says he needs to test the 2 5gal cans of diesel I have in the bed. Those checked ok too.
Mean time the HP Trooper askes for DL and Reg. OhOh I still have my Tenn DL. So I give him the Reg and start talking fast. He standing right by the exhaust. He says "this truck sure makes a lot of noise" I'm seeing $100 bills floating out of my billfold. So I says "yeah these 99 24 valves are really noted to be a little noisy right from the factory. It quiets down when I'm driving however." BS is getting deeper. So he walks around and looks at the rest of the truck. I had just washed it and it was nice and sunny out. He finished checking my reg and says "nice truck, have nice day" and gives me the reg back. whew no ticket.
This is part of a state wide fuel enforcement program that started this week end from what they told me.

There's nothing the matter with having off road Diesel in the bed of your truck, not unless it's plumbed into your fuel system.
Tons of people carry red Diesel in 70 gallon transfer flows back there, you know?
That's really odd, that he checked that.

Glad for ya. Heck even around my area they have done it, my wife passed a park n ride on the Hiway with a ton of big rigs AND pickups all lined gettin dipped. I figure that HAS to be a first for my area...maybe the local DOT reads diesel forums, ha ha.

Cops that don't know the laws they are trying to enforce are scary.
My bet is MN is starting a heavy enforcement experiment like several other states have tried and gave up on. There just aren't enough people cheating to pay the fines to support the extra manpower.
Give it a month or two and they won't be checking anywhere beside the truck scales on the interstates.

Don't cops have anything better to do? It's bad enough that we are getting screwed at the pumps, we shouldn't get singled out at road blocks with cops who do a more detailed search than border agents.
I've never heard of anyone being checked here in KY so I'd like to think law enforcement here has their priorities in order.

They just had one of those here a couple days ago. Good thing we had just filled up on on-road fuel because the last tank was pink. Officer said levels of coloring were kind of high. Showed him the bottle of Power-service and he said that that made sense and let us through. Guess we got lucky on that one.

Quick question-If you had dual tanks(like mine in sig) couldnt you run one tank dyed and one on road fuel? and just say you runned dyed on the farm?-They couldnt really prove that you were running dyed on the road unless they pulled the filter right?
