Got chased by the orange snake in my driveway...

Repos on Freezer Truck
Well a few years back I had my BAILIFF licence doing repos. We had a guy who sold frozen meat to restaurants from the back of his cube van. He got behind in his payments for the van. The dealership cut us a set a keys and had us go repo the van from his house. NO PROBLEM.
He was a little livid about it but realized it was his fault. He paid the arrears and the bailiff fees and got his cube van back.
A few months later he fell behind AGAIN and we got another phone call from the dealer to POP it again. My brother has his wife drive down the house late one night and already having a set a keys from the last repo, proceeds to pop it. He said to his wife, "shut off the lights when we get near the house and follow behind me...stay quiet"...
He jumps in the cube van throws the keys in the ignition, starts the truck and blazes out the driveway with his wife following behind.
She's got the headlights flashing on and off, blasting the horn behind him all the way back to the yard. When he gets out he BLASTS her about being inconspicous and quiet. She explains that he was dragging the ORANGE EXTENSION CORD and she was trying to get his attention....
Well that's the first part of the story .......
cuz when he got back home.....
There was a phone message from the POLICE department to call them back about some property damage
Appearently the guy had the ORANGE EXTENSION plugged in for the freezer in the cube van. The BRIGHT ORANGE EXTENSION cord was plugged into the house through the kitchen window, around the taps in the sink and over the tray of clean dishes.
NEEDLESS TO SAY...It cost us to do the repo. Had to pay for a window, a set of taps, a set of dishes and YES EVEN A BRIGHT ORANGE EXTENSION CORD THAT WAS WORN DOWN TO A SHORT PLUG...

OK enuff wit the dry humor... lol seems were taking things the wrong way, I knew what ya meant. as you did what I meant. err I think lol I know those are the male plugs. just thought it was funny what ya said bout getting the shock of your life... that you would?!! anyone remember the ole hot stick worm getter? used to plug into ONE side of the Outlet from your house and stick it into the ground (wet ground works best) them suckers would almost Shoot outta the ground. if ya wasnt paying attention yould get a good jolt from it too!! sorry Ifin I offended anyone too! I have 3 tricycle motors (one set of twins) as well and we all wanna keep'em safe. I dont let mine play around the truck or electrical things either. sorry Longhorn06
I'll either leave the hood unlatched, or clip a colored clothspin on the ignition switch....can't put the key in with the clothspin in the way.
I like the male outlet mod....think I'm gonna have to do that.

I use a large card that I laminated that reads “block heater plugged in” and set it on my drivers seat. The first thing that I see is the card when I get in to the truck. They made that pouch on the visor just for my stupid card.
Works for me.

I am wondering if someone makes a short plug that would insert into the unused one and still allow the cover to close. It could be molded rubber/plastic with no other purpose but to make a plug like that safe until needed.
Just an idea...you may find there is something like that already on the market.

Well, knock on wood, but I have never driven off with the cord attached yet, BUT, this past week, I walked out of the house one morning to get the paper and there was my truck, slid about half way down the drive way and the cord was unplugged and sitting on the ground right in front of the truck.
I had another extension cord running into the cab to power a small space heater and the cord somehow got under the right front tire and when the truck slid down the driveway, it wore the cord to nothing. I did have to repair that one. Works just as good as new now, just doesn't look like new anymore. But then, why should an extension cord that gets used look like new?

since i live in an apartment complex and park about 100 ft from my door, i have to run two heavy duty cords out my front door, across the sidewalk, and across the parking lot, and into the front of my truck. Kinda makes it hard to miss on the way to the truck.
i used to be able to park right in front of my door, less then 20 ft away, but the neighbors complained about the noise and now i have to park next to the road.

A few years back I was up in Big Bear and the water coming off the roof from the heated gutters came out the downspout right next to my tire.
The water froze under my tires and the truck went ice-skating for a few feet downhill.
That was scary.
Here in Southern California I have to drive 30 miles North up into the mountain to ever see any snow or I can drive 30 miles South and go to the beach.
We have terrible winters here.

Yup, it was ice. We got a bit of snow on Sunday and then even more on Monday. Driving up and down my driveway turned the packed snow into ice and then on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, it warmed up enough to make the ice slick enough that my truck slid partway down the driveway.

In all the years of snow here, we've never had anything slide out of our driveways, even at my camp which has a good 30-40 degree slope and constant ice. I did however drag about 50 ft of cord with me 120 miles round trip, stopping multiple times without noticing, and then plugged it back in when I got home.
