General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

Is this a good deal?

Is this a good deal?

2002 Dodge Diesel quad cab long bed auto, almost fully loaded, looks good 138K on the mileage, $14,000 is the price. That seems a bit low and it is a smaller dealership. I hate dealing with those guys. Is it too good to be true or a high price or what? It LOOKS clean enough but a code check and carfax will of course tell lme more. Thanks!

good deal IF the vp is good! make sure you check the fuel pressure and drive it before you do anything.

sounds like a 2wd, if so that a good deal...if its a 4x4 its a GREAT deal. even if the VP44 was bad at $14k, you save enough on the truck to afford a new one.

Carfax it....

You're doing the right thing having a shop check it over, they may be able to carfax it for you as well. It doesen't catch everything, somethigns slip under the radar, but it's a good guide. Sounds like a great deal!

Find out if it's ever been wrecked.

Find out where it has been registered. Houston and some other places get flooded often and a flooded CTD will run right most of the time, but will have electrical gremlins.
