So the wife is from Germany, we go on average about once a year. The Smart's are pretty popular. Small is not the word for these things, They almost make a Ford Festiva look like a mid 70's Caddy!
But I'll give 'em this, They got some style! They're pretty much the SuperModel of golf carts!
Bring one stateside with the 3cyl Diesel, and I'd rock that thing for all it was worth! And it would fit EASILY on my flatbed Cummins!
They gotta newer sportier model of Smart, Dang if I can remember the name. But it's a little too MR2-ish for me.

Yeah. I think so.
I’m hitting the accelerator right?
Looks like it.
Then why are we going backwards?”
PickupTruck.com writers to Smart Car media rep on hand at the Clean Diesel Technology Tour:
“Hey, why are we going backwards? The car’s in drive and we’re hitting the accelerator.
Hit it harder.
Ah, ok.”
And off we went.
Contrast this with the 350-hp / 650 lb-ft. Cummins equipped Dodge Ram drive, that began like this.
“Uh, I think I just ripped the curb off the street.”

There is a couple of those foolish things here in town , I had to laugh at them one day , BOTH cars were parked nice and neat back to back in ONE space down at the mall. I can hardly cram my truck into one space down here ...
I'd hate to ever get in an accident with one , I think it would be similar to getting in a head on collision with a semi while riding a bicycle.

To clean the Ram’s breath, a diesel particulate filter (DPF) is used to trap and incinerate soot like a self-cleaning oven. Small, metered amounts of fuel are injected into the exhaust stream to raise temperatures to the point where the particulates trapped in the DPF burn up in a process called regeneration. This approach is pretty straightforward and also shared with the GM and Ford oil burners.

The city of Vancouver has a bunch of them for the parking patrol. Other companies have them as promo vehicles. There are a bunch of smart cars running about out here that are privately owned. If all you do is commute in the thing it's not a bad idea. The next most popular vehicle is the mini cooper but that is only in a gas engine.

i think the smart car is foolish and i can only see it work in liberal euro wannabe areas like Toronto, Montreal, and San Fran...i sat in one at the auto show and surprisingly i fit in fine...but it scares me...there's no point in wearing seat belts in one of those...u wont even feel it...it will be a quick death...another nice thing is that if that car breaks down, u just need to find two more strong people and u can carry it off the road...or someone with an ATV can tow u home
