And slapping a magnetic sign on a duallie doesn't make somebody a hotshotter and neither does grabbing a load off uship .

Looking at yahoo.com, this won't be an issue under the merger...The RAM would be gone. Only Jeep and the Minivan survive.

DETROIT – In the doomsday scenario raising anxiety around the Motor City, General Motors Corp. makes a deal for Chrysler LLC, keeps Jeep and the minivans, and vaporizes the rest of the company.

If it dies it does. I don't like the new stuff (from all the auto makeres) n/e ways. I have my Cummins and will just keep doing transplants until I run out of good iron! Then I will drive a cummins powered lawnmower!

If this GM Take-over of Chrysler goes through, I will be buying the Last Jeep Wrangler Unlimited/Rubicon made by Chrysler and then I will be done all American Auto Makers. Looks like BMW and VW will be the Only autos I will be buying in the future. The big three will be the Big 1.5, not much of a choice there, Wall Street and the Federal Government has totally ruined the US Auto industry. So much for the Charger and Challenger Too, their gone if GM has its way. No more American Iron for me !@$%$#&&^%$#!!!!!
Doug.
PS I'd rather a drive a 1987 Hyundai Excell running on 2 cylinders than drive a Cheby or Ferd.
Stick a fork in me, I'm Done!

Well , what about the deal Chrysler has to build Ram based pickups for Nissan ? Why couldn't that deal go on and Rams just being built as Nissans and Dodge dealers becoming Nissan dealers ? The GM deal is a better option than Cerebus selling Chrysler to a Chinese company which was about the only other option . Cerebus never intended to keep Chrysler . They only wanted Chrysler Financial .

I was going to say GM junk, I don't even think so, it's like comparing a stone axe to a surgical knife. Gm is a about as good of a truck you can buy. I worked for a GM/Dodge dealer, and the broken down Dodges were line around the building, GM trucks were slim to none coming in. The only reason I bought Dodge after seeing that was the engine, because most of the problems with the Dodges were just minor electrical problems that could be repaired by swapping them out. My buddies 07 GMC has to be the best pickup I've rode in, makes mine seem like an old tractor , but it's an 05, not 1905.

grrrrrr

I hate Cerebus. They knew nothing of running a car company. They brought that fool that ran Home Depot into the ground over to head up the company. Right then I knew, no good can come from this.
I hate to see Chrysler disappear. Bad management. If you build a good product, customers will come.
I guess my current Jeep wrangler (TJ) along with my Ram will be the last Chrysler products I will own. My parent own a 300M and they don't like this news either.

I guess Chrysler having $11 billion in cash and marketable securities, while having sales down by 25% in September, (the largest decline of any manufacturer), really shows how incompetent Cerberus has been at managing it. GM has lost $57.5 billion in the last 18 month's and is burning up $1 billion a month at the moment. They will probably reach there minimum operating cash level of $14 billion sometime next year and they need Chrysler's capital to survive.

Not exactly disappear but very possible the truck plants could be sold to Nissan or build only Nissan badged trucks . Eliminating Dodge trucks would easily let Chevy outsell Ford . With Daimler eliminating Sterling you'd definitely see the end of the 4500/5500 since the frames are made by Sterling .

two weeks guys

http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/...terstitialskip

with chrysler selling off Viper and this merger Dodge/Chrysler will be a shell of its former self Jeep might survive with a Wrangler/Cherokee but that is about it. Sad times for the US automakers....I read the net worth of Ford is close to India's Tata motors (the guys that bought Land Rover, Jaguar and possible Hummer).

Thumbs down

GM will eliminate the competition to save its self IMO .

If I had wanted a Pickup with non-adjustable welded on door hinges, A Japanese engine and a built for the asphalt IFS 4x4, I would have bought a GM product. I am So ****** right now.

This is the beginning of the end for Chrysler/Dodge
This is the Death of Chrysler/Dodge;
Cummins opition-Gone
Ram gone=
Challenger=Gone.
Charger=Gone.
Durango=Gone.

All Hail the New the GM producing Performance Front Wheel Drive Muscle Cars What a joke.

And to add insult to injury, Ford may going with IFS in the Superduty in 09-10!, WOW What a choice we will have, Hummm lets see, which one do I want................. A truck with a decent cab, a Family Truckster Grill, radius arms, but has a V8 6oh-no, Or do I pick a truck that looks like an Oldsmabuick with silky asphalt proven IFS and a Japanese V8 Engine? Ppfffft, Sheesh!

Congress has created this mess b/c they were asleep at the switch ( no over site).
Doug.
