General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

sound-deaden the cab, throw in some heater leather seats, bigger turbo and the right box(es) and you're all set

with that much power a different convertor should take care of your transmission complaint as well. i'll agree with you there. the 48RE is reliable but feels like jello.

in all honesty my truck is about as close as it gets to luxury for me. its a dream to drive.

I'm not worried about the jello FEEL of the tranny. I am worried the the attitude monitor registers a slip way too often.

By the way, 15.8 at 91mph is pretty good for a truck. Don't call your truck slow when its quicker than a lot of cars.

I have an 02 Duramax, (The new 06 360 hp version is something like 30% quieter) and even with the Banks exhaust I only have to shut it off at drive thru`s once in a while. (Maybe once every 8-12 trips!) By the way, my truck has 80,000 miles, so it should be as loud as it will get.

You would be very happy with the Duramax/Allison combo.

The Duramax is not a throw away engine, whomever is feeding that line of bull is lieing.

The new LBZ Duramax has 650 ft lb tq at 1600 rpm, it has max hp and tq in every gear, it produces 500+ ft lb tq from about 1300 rpm all the way to red line. (3250 rpm) If that don't get the job done, none of the three will!
