Fuel prices
I noticed last night that Diesel is cheaper than gas in my area. I'm in the NW suburbs of Chicago. All of the stations around my house are around $2.70, but around my Girlfriends house about 20 miles west of me I pay around $2.40. I filled up last night for $2.42, and 87 octane gas was $2.48. I'm not happy with $2.42, but it's better than the $2.60 it would have cost with the Tahoe.

I see the same thing going on here in Staten Island. I paid $2.63 a gal for diesel on S.I. I go right over the bridge to Elizabeth N.J. about a 4 mi. ride from my house, and paid $2.28 a gal. for Diesel there. High test gas was I think like $2.48 a gal. I took an hr and a half trip to upstate NY yesterday, and I have to say, Im very happy with the mileage from my truck, I only have 1,200 mi. on it and it was averaging 19 mpg Highway. Too me, not bad for an almost 7,000 lb. truck.
I personally think, that fuel and diesel prices will keep rising. Its a fossil fuel, not man made, Its gonna run out eventually. Calculate how many vehicles are in the world, how long fuel driven vehicles and machines have been around..... Its not gonna last forever!!

If you can, take a look around neighboring towns / counties. You may find significant differences in prices. I pay about $9 - $10 a tank less by filling up when I'm at my girlfriends house. I'm not sure if you have these in your area, but I am finding that Speedway, Woodmans, and Meijer have the cheapest.

You guys are real lucky there, diesel used to be cheaper here in Phoenix than gasoline was, but not anymore. Personally, I think it is the oil companies that are colluding on this. My reasoning for this is that I travel all over Arizona, and I get cheaper diesel prices out of the Phoenix area. NOTE, here, that almost all fuel has to come from either Phoenix or Tucson depots, and trucked all over the state. The price of the fuel at those "remote" locations includes a 10 cent increase for the "hauling" of the fuel to that location. This is out of the mouth of the oil company. If that is so, then why is diesel 10 cents cheaper 90 miles away from Phoenix, at a major oil company station ?????
Currently diesel is higher here than Premium gas is !!!! Between $ 2.85 to $ 2.95
out in the boonies it is about $ 2.65 and at a major truckstop it was $ 2.60
And don't give me any of the hype that the diesel in Phoenix is different than the diesel in the rest of the state, it isn't, except in the winter when it has anti-gel in it.
Don't expect the government to help us, when you call them they seem all concerned, but what they won't tell you is that they enjoy the higer rates because the tax percentage at the higher rates then gives them more money to spend, so they aren't going to work real hard at getting the rates back lower.
Time for a real revolt !!!!!

Went through Oklahoma City last week and filled up for $2.16 per gallon. Not cheap compared to the $1.20 we used to pay but better than the prices we're seeing now. I don't see or hear of any oil companies losing money, just the opposite, they are having record sales and at our expense. This sucks!

Just came back from N of Mammoth. Highest price we saw was $3.35 a gallon for diesel OIL! This stuff is a step or two above crude and is priced higher than premium. What a joke.
We saw prices from $3.09 - $3.35 on the 324 mile trip. This sucks. I'm glad the boat uses red dye. It sucks to say that $2.70 a gallon is a break.

Well today I got it for 2.47 by my girlfriends, while the nearest diesel pump to my house said 1.83. That is a HUGE difference, and you can bet it's the same fuel.

BMH95.
wow under $2.00 a gallon, I would find me a 275 gallon fuel oil tank & fill it before that goes away
best deal I can find locally $2.45 at Kroger, that's actually $.10 cheaper than reg. unleaded 15 miles down the road at Exxon it's $2.69 & both had reg. unleaded at $2.55, go figure

If you guys look, there is likely a fuel price website for your area. For example, here it's http://www.clevelandgasprices.com/index.aspx?fuel=D but I'm sure they have chicagogasprices.com etc for other cities. You just click diesel fuel near the top left, and it will display all of the cheapest fuel and the locations. There's quite a range. One station is at $2.29 today and another $3.39!!
BMH95 - I heard the same thing this weekend. In lincolnshire amoco premier diesel dropped down below 87 for the first time in a long time - I believe it was 2.57. Don't forget that's 50 cetane minimum true premium, not 40 cetane #2. In any case, I paid 2.83 at the amoco station in Elmhurst (right off york) yesterday for Premier. On my way back to Cleveland on the Indiana turnpike I saw $2.39. They stick ya in the city, but I didn't really care, the premier gets me 1-2mpg better anyway.
