Fuel Mileage ????????????????

Shoot, three posts, only one with a question. The other two whining that no one answered your question?
Maybe you're confusing this with a chat room? We're not all online, at the same time. You post, you wait a bit, you'll get replies. Whining, posting more and more threads, won't do anything but make ya look bad and even possibly drive knowledgeable people away.
Also you might try putting your post in the "best" forum. Your truck is a 2nd gen, and this would be an engine/drivetrain issue.

Patience is a virtue, practice it.
Also, taken5875, you might want to turn off the caps lock key.
It as seen as shouting in forums (in case you didn't know)
Now on to the subject.
Do a little reading in the forums before jumping in headfirst with the questions.
There are many many posts concerning fuel mileage, and what to check to fix it.

Pulling our current 36' 13,500 lb 5th wheel RV (13'2" tall) over the same Texas Hill Country route, our 1996 3500 V-10/47RE/3.54 got 6.5 MPG. The truck in my signature gets 9.5 MPG over the same route and has much more towing punch than the V-10 - like up 6-7% grades at 70 MPH in 6th @ 2350 RPM (Cummins) versus 55 MPH in 2nd @ 3500 RPM (V-10)! The Cummins got about 10.5 MPG towing over the same route when stock (245 BHP/505 lb-ft at the flywheel), but the extra BHP/torque (and resultant higher average speed) is worth the sacrifice of 1 MPG to me.

I have a 04 3500 Quad Cab 4X2 SLT Laramie Fire Engine Red that I ordered in Jan. I have not pulled my travel trailer yet but I am getting 14.6 according to the overhead console about 13.6 when you use the calculator traveling around 70 to 75 MPH 373 gears w/ auto tans.

In addition to filters check tire pressure and high drag items. A 'box trailer' sounds like a big box :^), which would be the classic 'aerodynamics of a brick'. If that's the case and it can't be modified then slower speed is your best bet.
If you want to experiment you could carefully dimple your truck and/or trailer with a ball peen hammer, like a golf ball :^)

IS THERE A PROBLEM OR IS THIS NORMAL

What year is your truck?
Is the motor a SO or a HO?
Is that 11.7MPG highway miles, or a mix?
Is it stock or bombed?
How fast do you drive?
Is it a 4X4 or 2 wheel drive?
Did you get that milage from the overhead computer, or did you calculate the REAL milage?
There are SO many things that can effect your milage.

Just calculated my gas mileage, bone stock truck with no synthetic oils yet, I got on my first couple tanks 27 mpg w/o a load . On my third tank I boosted the cetane 8 points and see if it makes a difference. Hoping to get at least 28. After all my mods, I want to be at least 30 or over...
