General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

Yeah what electrical stuff are you referring to? a 12v is just about 100% mechanical...I could make one run on a engine stand with a battery and a milk jug full of fuel...If you're referring to ignition stuff as electrical, thats nothin, simple on off start key switch and a toggle to cut the fuel pump if you want to get real crude.

Only reason he wants to do swap is to be different and we know we can do it...we're a bunch of hillbillys out here, we do a whole lotta stuff that just dont make sense, just to say we did it.

what electricals? oh nothing, just things like the tach, spedo, worthless little tidbits like that. i figure if your gonna do something, do it right. dont bubba it to where you have to pull this or hold that to get things to work correctly.

I say go for it, a 12V with a manual tranny swap should be a piece of cake compared to my common rail with an 48RE swap into my Excursion. Just make a list of all connections between the engine and vehicle and then how you are going to address it. Problems should become apparent before you start if you think about it enough and ask questions first.

Here's the progress I made on mine this weekend...
