Ford owners talking up Cummins

Ford owners talking up Cummins
I went on line today to get some info for my son. Poor lost soul bought a 99 ford superduty with a 7.3, and he is having tranny problems. I could not believe how many ford owners admit on thier forum that they can't beat a dodge with a cummins. I laughed my **** off. They openly admit that it takes a lot of money to get to where a cummins comes stock. Then if they are talking about a modded cummins you can feel the fear through the keyboard.

Yep. I hear it all the time....if only Ford put the Cummins in it's trucks then it would be better.
Both of my Ford driving buddies dogged me about how bad the Dodge trannies were but it didn't bother me because I have a manual. They have both had tranny repairs and their trucks are stock.
So I guess they would have to replace the engine AND transmission to make it a better truck.

If Ford would have put the Cummins 5.9 in their PU back in the '80s Dodge would now be out of business and nobody in their right mind would buy anything other than a Ford. Oh, wait a minute, maybe they would have found a way to mess it up too. I take that back.
But Dodge would have been out of luck. Maybe they could have looked over at International for something to use. Naw. Hmmm. Maybe a Mitsubishi diesel. Been there, done that. Oh well.

I could understand the fear and buyers regret if the main point of buying a truck was to go fast in a straight line. I was not aware of the Cummins potential until I had bought mine and then started reading on this forum what all can be done. I was hooked as well, but then the idea of spending so much money to go fast in a straight line started to grow thin and I started wishing I had the smoother and quiter ride of the new F250 with all it's creature comforts. We are giving up the ski boat, so I knew I'd have nothing significant to pull and I traded in my '06 Dodge for an '07 F150 FX4. A bunch of guys on this forum said I'd be back, but I have to admit with the exception of the power I haven't missed the Dodge at all. Part of the reason is knowing next year we will be trading my wife's BMW 325i in for the BMW 335i (twin turbos), which I test drove yesterday . Then my first trip to the twisty roads of CO will have me looking for the smokers to put the hurt on!

I can about guarantee this will never happen, I work at the CAT plant in Lafayette and I kid with the truck guys about making an engine. To be honest, they should hook up with Toyota. Those trucks are made(assembled) in Indiana and could use it as another sales pitch. Heck Cat already runs Toyota cars in Nascar.

Then people at sites say to me, that's a nice truck you got there. I usually respond that it's not so nice for my butt, rides like a log wagon, makes more noise in the cab than my 02 Dodge, sucks fuel like it's free, eats front tires and the list goes on. Yeah, furds??

I have to chime in on this. It's funny how Ford is now on their 4th engine since Dodge starting offering the Cummins. Cummins would still be a 5.9l if it werent for emissions. I guess they'll never learn. As for a Cummins in a Ford, F650 or Fordcummins.com They are in montana and offer a pretty good package from what I undestand. I am supposed to be buying my neighbors 02 F350 crew this fall. It will have a Cummins in it by the next fall. I'm considering pulling the 12 valve from my 96 to install but wouldnt mind that quiet common rail
As for the Cat in the Toyota, there is speculation that it will happen according to diesel power magazine. You can have it. I'll take the Cummins any day
