General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

I think that the powerstrokes look to complicated, when the Cummins is so much simpler and does the job better.

If somebody's dumb enough to buy a 6.0 over a cummins than their too dumb to waste time arguing with. I like alot of things about the fords but the 6.0 isn't one of them. All anyone needs to do is a little research to see why.

theres a bunch of ambulace drivers that are not happy with the 6.0s. we house ambulances at 3 of our stations (we dont run them, they belong to montgomery county hosp district) and its funny to listen to them try to start. luckily we have plymovents or else they would fill te bays up with that nasty white smoke!

It's not just the drivers it's the accountants that are paying for them that are mad too, lol.

I'd be passing the buck to Ford and asking for help on replacing them with the V10 so you don't have to scrap the whole ambulance, they run a couple hundred grand.

The built in exaust brake is a benifit of the new turbo. They found out that since the entire wheel moves and not just the vanes that they could move it far enough to shut off the air supply completly hince an exaust brake. Now my question is how long till somone creats a stand alone controller for the new turbo and makes it avabile to the after market so we can add it to the older model trucks. I belive there would be a large market for that.

Went to visit the in-laws in Ga. Wifes cousin tells me and swears up and down that Ford owns Cummins. I didn't even argue, I just laughed in his face, then his friend chimes in and tells me next year Dodge is going to get the power stroke and ford will put cummins in their truck. He wasn't joking either they were dead serious. I just laughed my rear end off.

They are wishing for a real engine for their trucks and putting the powerduds in a truck that they think is sub-standard. Here is my quote when I come up against this kind of thing.

"Dodge owners are like Marines. Built tough and can withstand almost anything. They don't go down without a fight. Everyone wishes they had something like ours. We are the few and proud Dodge truck owners."

I'll give it to Ford, I really, really like their new PSD, despite the computer update that was needed, and the Navstar issue doesn't effect a consumer like me. However, at comparison, with what I'd like in a f250 vs. 2500 Ram, the f250 is $11000 MORE. Yeah. Thats a used 97 12 valve. If I'm going to get a new PSD, I'll wait until its affordable in about 10 years. *thumbs down*

Great truck, outrageous price. While I can't help being robbed at the pump, I can avoid being robbed at the dealership.
