Yeah, I wish your statement was true and would make a difference but just take a look where the big three vehicles are assembled. Good old Mexico and who knows where else!!! Fact is Toyota and the rest of the Jap automakeres are probably employing more American workers today than the big three!! But has the price dome down on the Big Three automakers vehicles, with the cheaper labor? NOOOOOOOO It's sad!!!

I don't keep up with the Dodge or Chevy as far as the problems they may have had and I honestly like both trucks.

It is easier to make the Cummins or Duramax faster due to the common rail system, but I have had fun trying to get my truck faster without breaking the bank.

I recently run a 12.73@ 104.88mph in the 1/4 on stock heabolts, gaskets and most of all totally STOCK transmission in my 6.0.

John_P was there to verify it!

Not bad for a POWERJOKE

David is right, I was there when he ran that 12.73 and all I have to say is David's 2003 Ford PSD 6.0 is one GREAT running truck! It is like some of the other members said, "to each his own",.......but with that in mind we should all remember that ALL brands of diesel trucks (G.M., Ford, Dodge) have owners driving them that are idiots!

Actually, while many of the parts are made in Mexico or Canada, pretty much all of the vehicles are assembled in the US, some in Canada. Thats not the case with foreign auto makers, sure their trucks and large SUV's may be made stateside, but parts are from Japan, Germany, or wherever the company is from, but the big 3 still employ many more Americans than the Foreign auto companies.

Actually go to your local Dodge dealer and check out the sticker on the window of a new dodge truck or the label inside the drivers door and see where it's assembled. Most Chevy's are also assembled in Mexico. That might have been with your older truck but not with the new trucks

I know a Ford guy that wouldn't complement your Dodge if you had 50K in it, if you smoked him 30 out of 30 times and if you outpulled everytime.

And they would own a Ford if it had a Cub Cadet engine in it.

Dodge has three assembly plants for the trucks. The reg cabs are made in Warren MI the chassie cabs (3500-5500) and some of the quad cabs are made in mexico, the remainder are made in St Louis.

Yeah, the worst part about the hotshot guy at the truckstop is that he honestly believed what he was telling me. He said that he had never owned a dodge cummins. I'm thinking that if he wants to be profitable and minimize downtime, he'll be drivng a cummins equipped vehicle soon enough.

I totally agree with you on that.

I run a guy at the strip one night with a duramax and didn't know he had ALOT of stuff on his truck and he spanked me really bad.
His 12.98 to my 13.80.All I had was a programmer and exhaust and he had everything but the kitchen sink on his.He acted like he conquered the world and said Fords were junk.

I finally had the opportunity to meet John_P at Coastal and he run me with his 2006 and outrun me when we were both on fuel and we both had a great time checking out each others trucks.

I had never been around the Dodge at all,but after seeing John's and how freakn well it ran with just a programmer and trans it made me want one.

I respect ALL brands, but most of all I respect the person that owns it and the effort they made upgrading their truck to make it run faster or do whatever they intended to do with it.

I can take some ribbing on my truck, but when people act or say my truck is junk I tend to take it personal because I've worked hard to be able to afford this truck and I only want people to respect that whether it is a brand new truck or 20 yrs. old.

Sorry for the long post...I'll get off my soap box now

David:

Very good post my friend! I agree with you 100% and the "brand war" thing just tires me out sometimes. As you said, one needs to look at "the person that owns the truck" and not the brand of it. Really, we all have the same goal with our trucks, that being, to make them better and get better times/performance out of them with each upgrade that we do.

dont go getting a big head, but i think your a stand up ford owner and guy, just from reading your posts. alot of guys with other brands like to show up and talk smack to get everyone riled up. but i have to agree with you that we all should have respect for the man that owns the truck regardless of the brand becuase we share a liked interest in the diesel world. and if you ever decide to come over to the dodge side you wont be disappointed...only thing is dodge doesnt give you a puppy like some of the other manufacturers allegedly do!!

I saved my money for 5 years to come up with a down payment on a Ford diesel, the only truck I ever wanted since I was a kid. I searched for many weeks looking for the truck I wanted and then I found it. A 2003 4 door Lariet 4x4, sunroof, 6.0 loaded, I almost cried when I signed the papers. I had the truck for 2 months before my problems accured. First was the rear main seal had to be replaced. Second I was pulling my 5th wheel to a family outing when I blew a turbo boot leaving me on the side of the road. Third the tranmission wirring harness grounded itself out causing the truck to shift into park while driving down the highway. 5 injectors, new transmission, turbo, fan clutch, and 70 total days in the shop later I lemoned my dream truck. Ford awarded me my money with no problems or question asked or lawyers involved. I used the money to order a Dodge. If I known then what I know now I would have baught a 04 Ford removed the engine and put in a 610 Cummins and sold the engine on ebay. I didn't buy the Dodge, I baught a Cummins wrapped in a Dodge. I feel sorry for all those people who spend their hard earned money on products that let them down, Ford let me down and I will never forget it..

Brett,

Ford went out of their way to make me happy, I give them all the credit in the world. I wish my dodge had the interior of the Ford everytime I get into it

Sadly, thats probably why I'm going back and forth. Dodge has everything that I like. But the interior. I love the f250 interior.
So basically once I've saved up for the new truck, then I'll see what I can find and decide which one then.
