Ah, man...that's what I was gonna say! Something to effect of how "impressive it was to be able to draft with the blown head gasket, maybe I should look into getting a Ferd."

Knew I needed to spend more time here and less time doing work...gimme a chance to let out my inner comedian. Gotta have a talk with my boss...

Boss has a '99 F250 Crew Short bed 2WD 5.4 Gasser. It has over 300K on it. I watched him pour two quarts of oil into yesterday and drive off. To the best of my knowledge it has never stranded him. But to my absolute knowledge it gets about 13mpg with a tail wind and is GUTLESS compared to my Ram.

So all Fords aren't bad...

But when the customer with the '08 F250 6.4 talked of twice to the dealer so far, and white smoke that morning I'm pretty sure Diesel Fords after the 7.3 are NOT always good.

Newbie here. I'm true blue ford man, but I wants no part of the 6.0 or the 6.4
The 6.0 later years was supposed to be a lot better than the earlier ones, but I dont know. I love my 7.3. Never has left me stuck. Made several trips to get my buddies cummins that the 5th gear nut backed off and trashed a bunch of parts.. I aint knockin cummins, their a very good engine. And dodge has come a long way in the last few years. Almost look like a ford now!

Scott...how could you do me this way

I personally like my 6.0,but maybe I just purchased a good one and the tech building it was in a good mood that day

I guess you do like that 7.3 with the dyno numbers you just layed down at the dyno event this past weekend(569/921).Good job.
I was very impressed with it myself!!!

Nothing personal. . They are some running somonoguns when theyre tuned right. I think the problem is that international is pushing these things out before the bugs are worked out. Even the new 6.4. Those 6.0's are hard to beat if they are treated to all the fixins. (studs, head gaskets..etc.) This 6.4 all I've heard is bad stuff. No power, bad mileage, sets the yard on fire..lol
But, the overall truck is killer! I think the ideal one for me right now, if you could get one would be the new f-450 , with either a built 7.3 , or a built cummins. Heck, even a tuned up duramax would be a good choice in that thing. But it would cost probly 90,000 $$$$$$ to build it like I want. That would finish my house, finish my shop, finish my truck, and I could find me another girlfriend! (shhh, dont tell my current one..lol) She's not really that into sharing. hahahhaa.
Let me know when you get your truck ready to go. Have to make a trip to the dragstrip. Theres another f-250 we need to go check out. He's running high seven second eight on a stock motor! 7.3 power STROKER..
I'd like to see that one! I also want to see Mr Johns cummins at the strip.
That would really make some race car owners mad!! He's faster than most of the car crowd down at piedmont dragstrip.

Yeah I know I was just getting the ball rollin

I will say though fords best motor was the good ole 300 6 inline. may not be the most powerful beast but it will get you there.

I'd darn near have to agree with you about the 300-6. It was a dang good engine in the '88 F150 extended cab 8' bed and the '89 F150 regular cab short bed we had back in the early 90's.

That '89 would have made a pretty neat 4BT truck, already having the 5 speed in it.

Amen to that. I also had a 78,84,88 with the inline 6.

Strangely how similar we find the Cummins and the old 300 - 6. Both torquers!

But I remember a couple of old slant 6 Dodge engines that were pretty good too.
