FORD: F-ound O-n R-oad D-ead

Went to Mammoth Lakes this past weekend to do some fishing with the boys. My brother drove his '06 F-350 Powerstroke with his 12,000 lb Weekend Warrior 5th wheel in tow. He picked me up from my house before dawn and by the time we made it to the freeway (about 3 miles) his truck was puking coolant out the cap. We said screw it and drove the 275 miles through the desert anyway (had more family following us in a motor home). We made it there but had to baby it up every grade to keep it from completely overheating. A Ford tech we talked to says it's probably a head gasket. I tried to warn him before he bought.....

My buddy used to haul cars every now and then for a dealership, who wanted him to use their truck(PSD), so he got stranded out in the middle of Arizona when their 6.0 took a dump
Heres the 3500 they sent him to bring back the PSD with in-tow...

Ahh boy here we go.

I saw a Ford F-250 (03,04 year) pullling a trailer w/ a BobCat in tow on the side of the road this moarning on my way to school. He had his hood up and smoke was rolling out. It looked like she was overheating realy good.

I've seen a few duramaxes bite the dust unexpectedly. But they are a very strong dependable V8 engine otherwise.

I can't help but crack up. They are the best v8. I still put my truck ahead though. (so far no probs) knock knock. I would try a d-max out if I had the money alot sooner than a powertoker.

My old 7.3 non turbo '90 model F350 was pretty good overall. Since I didn't know anything I MIGHT have saved the IP by using 2 stroke oil or something but that was at a bit over 300K. It only tried to strand me once when the starter took a dump at a customer but he helped me get it out and to an O'Riellys to swap it out (in his '03 2500!) and at that point I KNEW I wanted a Cummins!

Been thinking about that truck and sorely wish I could have 12V'd it!!!

hahahaha where have you been???

just about everyone i have talked to down here thats drives a 6.0 thinks it is the best motor ford ever put out! i am shocked by their brash statement and follow up asking them a series of questions regarding head gasket failures, turbos, injector problems, etc...they still think its great!

then they start telling me how the new twin turbo powerstroke is the best motor out there and yada yada yada! on thing about ford owner is that they are very loyal...sometimes dumb but loyal
