..............Just wanted to say hello to all the Smart folks who love those dodges . Been lurking for awile so I registered so I could participate every now and again. This info was posted by a person over on the RV net site about the New Engine Ford is Supposedly will be intrducing in the '07 PSD's . It is 100% conjecture , NOT confirmed , Now the New engine is going to be an Inline 6 , Supercharged , and rated at 670 ft. lbs. torque , and 460 HP . and ...it will be 3.9 liters in displacement . I should also add here that I believe that the new PSD engine will be a Larger Displacement rather a smaller displacement engine and it may very well be that this smaller engine will be introduced into the F150 line of trucks . Will have an Aluminum block and all kinds of New Technology that has Never been seen beFord !!! Kinda hard to believe but very interesting , IF TRUE . It won't be but just a few months until Ford will be revealing whatever NEW engine will be put into the '07 model trucks . Thanks guys , df

I WISH Ford would go with Cummins, but it will likely never happen. If they did the Dodge would probably lose a LOT of customers...and I'd be one of them.

F-650 and f-750 are medium duty, and can get a Cat, Cummins, or Ford engine. Its sad, I work for Ford, and I have a tech that keeps claiming that Ford owns Cummins....some people never listen.
I have drove a 550 with a cummins in it. Dont know anything about motor options but I poped the hood and low and behold looked just like under my hood. Execpt for the ugly blue oval.

Im sure you guys have heard of who Dave Smith motors is if you own a Dodge correct? I worked for them for a little while so here is what I know...Well its not a lie as far as the contract ending in 2007. Now I do know that Cummins will probably not be the engine in 2007 for the dodge line up. that is why they have not counter backed at duramaxes 650ft lb motor. SO all I can say is that Ford DOES own Cat, and Ford DOES have a nice piece of Cummins. That is fact ...Im not hear to stir up stuff but I just wanted to let you know that the Worlds largest dodge truck dealer knows that cummins is all that dodge is holding onto now. By the way chevy and gmc have new designs for 2007 available to public starting in January on the Tahoe and Suburban then trucks by the end of June...

The info below is a compilation of many different forums and was posted on a Dodge truck mailing list I belong to....I do NOT vouch for any of the info.

from other Dodge forums:
---
Well i just got off the phone with a friend who works at the DCX
proving grounds. I Asked him about the trucks, he said they are testing the
08 models now. Here are some key stuff he brought up!

1. Dodge IS testing a smaller diesel for the 1500's they are testing it
towing 8000 pounds. Could not tell me what Brand diesel. (They would
not allow them to pop the hood.)

2. They are testing a 6.7L Cummins in the HD trucks, could not give
HP/TQ numbers but said "More than enough"

3. The Ram HD auto tranny will have more than 4 gears! Could not tell
how many. (fear of loosing job)

4. The 6.1L Hemi will NOT be used in HD trucks, will be used in SRT
cars exclusively.

5. They are testing a Diesel PT cruiser, he said the are getting 50mpg
plus! Unfortunately it is slated for production Europe only.

6. This one made me sad, Dodge is not testing a 2 door coup of any kind
as of the 08 year... So no 2 door muscle for us until at earliest 09..

7. They actually had to Detune the 6.1 Hemi because it was destroying
the trannys!
------
The transmission for the Ram is the upcoming 68RFE. It is based off the
45RFE and will be used for diesel applications. (This is obviously a 6
speed automatic)

The transmission used for the 6.1L Hemi cars is the W5A580 Mercedes
design transmission built here {at Kokomo Indiana}. (Yes, the same one
that is in the 5.7L cars.) They do have transmissions strong enough...in
the trucks.
-------
I work pretty closly with the people from MSX, they take care of all of
the DCX concepts and test mules. I can take photos of the cars that
have already been seen by the public, like the Jeep Gladiator, Commander,
300C SRT8, Firepower, ETC, but when it comes to the deck models and 08
and beyond models I have to be pretty discrete. I do however, have to
inspect all of the vehicles for damage prior to accepting them to load
on the aircraft so I get to look them over very well. Just can't
photograph them.

I can tell you that the replacement for the new minivan is a complete
redesign. It was only a deck model and had no engine or tranny. The
Stratus looks similar to the Charger just smaller.I don't think I will get
in too much trouble saying that.

Thats great that Im clueless, that means that the number one dodge dealer in the WORLD is clueless also... I could honestly care less what they do, the whole diesel world is completely new to me. But all I know is that I would never buy a duramax because of it crappy tranny, and the powerstroke, well I wont do there... But if you are UNknowledgeable of Dave Smith motors click here
