FLASH!! "Ford buys Cummings". No...Really!
I went to a local Ford dealership to look at the 06 models and a young salesman who had worked there 6 months visited with me. I indicated I was checking out the competition and what I drove, how happy I was with my truck, and the problems I knew about the 6.0, and he told me in a conspiratorial aside that the owners of his dealership had just told them that "Ford bought 'Cummings'!" I went through the facts that Ford had owned 10% of Cummins stock years ago, had sold it, that there were contracts, etc., with IH and DMC had contracts with Cummins, but he insisted that it was low key, the companies were "working together" and was a done deal!! Oh, my. Has anyone else heard this latest??

Its Total Bull....Why lose buisness to dodge when a salesman can make up stuff to get you to buy....Auto dealerships do it all the time..Hire a kid off the street, give him fake info, then fire him after they sell a vechical...It sickens me

Had a friend of mine who is a devout blue oval guy trying to convince me that Ford owns Cummins the other day. Along with him was another guy trying to tell me that Ford also owns IH, Cat and a host of others. Pulled up the FAQ's from the Cummins site that answered that question and all he would say was 'Ford owns Cummins.' He was also trying to tell me that you can get the Cummins in a F-450. Wouldn't believe me that you can only get it in a 650. Went to the Ford site and printed out all the options for the 450, 550 and 650 (and man, the options for the 650 is 20+ pages with all the engine/tranny options). Guess what? 450 only showed the 6.ohno as a diesel options. And guess what else? He still insisted that you could get a Cummins in the 450. Hard to educate the uneducatable. But ya gotta try.

i wont even comment no more.... just read this........
quote from an earlier post i made
"Ill buy it when i see actual proof...
Not theories, rumors, theorems, or urban legends..... If ford owned cummins, then why are they puttin trashy engines in good trucks? wouldnt it be much easier to actually put a FORD OWNED product in a FORD MANUFACTURED Truck? its like goin to the store to get milk when you got the cow at home..... it dont make any sence...
No argument meant at all... just tryin to make a point..."
Gets pretty much to the point of watchin paint dry hearin bout this... but hey it could happen..

[ford bought cummings]? I guess it's possible that ford did buy cummings! but they will never own cummins.

Nope no Cummins Option in a 550. F-250 to F-550 is considered light duty, and gets the 6.0L, 5.4 or v-10(standard on 450/550). F-650 and f-750 are medium duty, and can get a Cat, Cummins, or Ford engine. Its sad, I work for Ford, and I have a tech that keeps claiming that Ford owns Cummins....some people never listen.

This subject is just like beating beating a dead horse. Everyone I discuss diesels with on a daily basis brings this subject up. The "Ford owns cummins" thing has been around for years, It seems to have taken a snowballing effect.
