Today was basiclly my first day leaning about my new to me Dodge . I learned about the KDP ...I'm hoping mine has one on allready , but I am still going to pull it apart and check .
I learned the 96 2wd is great truck , It will take some time to get all the items that I found that need attn: , the truck needs , a frontend allinement , but all the steering componants are good , I degreased the underside of the engine , found my oil leak ... vacume pump seal .
I also need a few diveling componants , U-joints but center bearing seems pretty tight , I do however have alot of play on the spline's of the back drive shaft ...I may try packing that section with grease ...right now is not greasable ...I'll fix that ..LOL
Looks like it is a new trans and converter ....lucky me , the truck shifts great .

I really would like to thank DR.Evil , I was on here all day and he seemed to come right back with answer's ... Thanks Doc .

It was a good day , and dame this truck is so much fun to drive ... its loud and viberates ... my girl friend will love it ...LOL

I'm right out of lower bucks right now , I am a converted powerstroke guy ... I still have my 2001 f-350 SRW 4x4 , I just had so many problems with my truck ... it was back to the dealer over 28 time all for big ticket items .
When it's running its a good truck ...LOL , I just have a lot of money in aftermaket parts ... I did buy this truck to keep it for a long time .
I just don't don't know what I'm going to do with the truck ... I have like 30grand in extra goodies ... and like a dumb-**s I just bought the supersingle tractor trailer tires and wheels ... the truck looks great but is not doing much to impress me these days ... I scared of taking it any where ... I'm allways wondering whats going to break next .
Before buying this 1996 truck I did look at the new Dodge's , I really was not impressed with the frame and rears that dodge was offering ... the frame was ****-thin ... I honestly think if your buying a one ton truck ...if I wanted to rip the bed off and put a dump body on the truck the frame should be strong enough to do this ...is not the case .
If you craw under and look at the frame , they were more worried about crush zones ...if you look at the rear of the frame you don't even get a choice of what class of hitch you would like ... the have built in to the frame a hitch .
I honestly think this 1996 has a stronger frame than the new ones , use guys are using these trucks ...and they are trucks and you are paying good money for a 9000lbs gvw+
Ford is still building a heaver frame ...but the 2002 dodges and under had a great chassie.
I love the cummins engine , and proibly will consider buying a 2002 4x4 diesel or if I can gather my self to pull out my 7.3 and in stall a cummins in my ford .... that would be the truck .
I need to stop trying to re-invent the wheel ... thats why I got 70 grand into a ford...LOL
