Stopped at a truck stop today 3 days ago to fill my 01 dtc and
got 388 miles on a tank of fuel. Things that make you go hummmmmmmmmm! :P :'( I did pull the pump lever on full force.... Guess I should have read this board first. Sending unit gone!
[/quote]

My fuel filler hose is cut off and mounted real close to the stock tank. I always fill at the high volume hoses (65 foot long) I always fill as fast as it will go, usually wide open. Never hurt my gage sender. Maybe after I get a few more miles on it

Oh yeah those ladies at the truck stops, they are called "lot lizards" And yeah, they come in all four sexes.

It is general practice after fueling to pull the truck up out of the way of the next truck.

On the attitude of the trucks on the road, if some courtesy was given to a truck maybe it would not be that way. For instance when changing lanes with the truck, most cars feel that the turn signal is asking for permission. Put the signal on in heavy traffic, you will not get to change lanes, so you move over and hit the signal at the same time. Then you get the "number one" salute because the car would not have let you in.

well maybe normal drivers would have more courtesy if it weren't for the big rigs doing stupid things like going the speed limit or 5 under in the left/passing lane, or looking down into peoples cars and howling obscenities at women..

Now now you know the only reason we are out in the left lane doing 5 under is the guy back in the office does not trust us without a governor on the truck. Gimmie all it has and I will be sure to be over the speed limit.
And with an eagle eye view of the short skirts and such what's a guy supposed to do????

Re:Filling up with the big rigs

Spots, lol on the skirts. As for the left lane, if you have to do 5 under, get out of it!

I do agree people should sometimes show truckers more consideration though, I dont think they realize it's more difficult to drive than your average miata...so more times than not I'll let a trucker over that uses his blinker etc for that reason. I just get annoyed when two trucks are in both lanes going the same speed with tons of cars piling up behind them in the left lane. Somewhere along the line, some people just haven't learned that the left lane is the passing/high speed lane, and SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT

Re:Filling up with the big rigs

It's starting to get a little on the cold side and I just fiiled up on the high volume side tonight. what a change the pump shut off when I squeezed too hard so I don't think it will hurt the sending unit.the station I use is out in the country and mostly dump trucks and waste haulers etc.. use during the day I fill up at night so no one ever there when I fill up anyway I pumped 26 gal. before I knew it. The downside to this station is the diesel is on the otherside of the gas islands can"t see the skirts I keep hearing about but the pumps fast so I'm back in the cab in a flash where it is warm.

Technically, it is if you're changing lanes. The car/truck that is already in the lane has the right of way. Unfortunately, you're right about the other part too. If you put your turn signal on people will only speed up to avoid letting you in front of them. :

This reminds of a friend I had in high school who thought that if he had his turn signal on he could change lanes no matter what. He changed his mind when he changed lanes and clipped the front end of a gravel truck. LUCKILY he didn't roll the truck he was driving. He was kind of an idiot sometimes. :

Ooops...my bad....I forgot we were getting back on topic. :-X

I think the point is that we all need to be more considerate of each other. Give a little and we all get there a little safer. Ignore the jerks, no matter what they drive.

I always like to see the cars stuffed under the trailers when you pull wide for a right turn. Amazing how 40 ton can ruin a nice paint job...
Back on topic: Don't be mad if you see a big green truck in your mirror at the truckstop pushing your shiny CTD outa the way so I can fuel up. Thanks. ;D
