feel sorry for ford guys

I just got finished looking at the Diesel Stop for Ford owners...

It is amazing how much difference there is between the forums here and over there..

Here it seems to be all happy people fixing up their trucks and enjoying their CTD's

There it is how many times the truck has been to the dealer, the dealer is buying back the truck, and left on the side of the road Puking Water with blowen head gaskets.. Let alone all the driveways full of oil stains from leaking main seals...

One guy had 18 service tickets in 12 months....

Boy am I glad I have a Cummins....!!!!!!

TheDieselPlace is pretty entertaining as well. Injectors, overheating towing a couple thousand pounds, EGR, and the "kill stories" forum as well. They pick on everthing just so they can say they got a "Kill", from kids on bikes to Powerstrokes.

Saw a 6.0 Powerjoke on the side of the road Saturday. It was hooked to what looked like a 28' Travel Trailer. He was on the other side of the freeway and the CHP was already there. Still waiting to pull one down the road.........(sideways).
I have to admit I felt bad for them.

While I agree, the cummins is the best diesel engine, period, being a chapter president of DTR, and accepting all makes an models of diesel engines into my chapter, I gotta say, if it doesn't have sparkplugs, you're doing something right in my book

I feel sorry for the from the standpoint that they paid a very large price to purchase a vehicle made in the best country in the world built by high quality caring workers with a good solid American name and ended up with a piece of junk that spends more time in the shop than on the road (been there done that with a POS Toyota, was in the shop seven times in six months). Of course, this can happen to all brands but it seems to happen to the v8 diesels more often than the in lines. Our beloved Dodge has had it's share of problems but I have owned four Cummins diesels (89, 92, 95, and 99) and my son had a 94 Dodge with a quarter mil on the odometer and never had a problem with any of them (except for the stupid lift pump on the 99). My son is driving my 81 with a slant six and four speed and it just won't die. None of the gauges work or anything and it starts and goes every time.
Sometimes I think our technology is not proven well enough before they turn it out to the general public for use and they figure the public will prove as the testing grounds saving them R&D money. Or I could be way off base just spouting jibberish.

Well..

Look at it this way.. If you browse the IDI forums, you all will have big 's on your faces. there are at least three or four guys that are doing or wanting cummins conversions for their rigs... There is alot of reference to this site as well. As far as the powerstrokes go, they are just scary to work on under the hood, complex and unreliable..

Suzuki.. you have one of the good ones.. those 97's like urs are sellin for just as much as superduties with comparable mileage... i have a friend with one over 300K on the ticker, no chips no nothing and it gets driven easy... still runs very well... sounds screwy at idle (pilot injection)? but it runs well...

My brother in law just bought an '05 Ford w/ 6.0 a couple weeks ago. He said all of the Dodges had 6 speeds, and he really wanted an auto. So, he bought a Ford. I know that with the new Cummins, you just need to monitor fuel pressure and you're golden. I don't know what you need to do with the Ford 6.0 in order to make sure it doesn't break on you. I hope he finds out, because he bought the truck as his primary vehicle for business.

Only to be fair about this, it would not take long for an objective eye to see that we are not without our issues as well.
From failing lift pumps and Vp-44's, KDP issues, the "53 Block", to the "Death Wobble" and many things in between, we are not without error ourselves.
With that said, I'll keep my Cummins!

I am with Dieseldude4x4 on this one...

I feel sorry for anyone that pay's that kind of money for a new vehicle only to find out the engine is junk. Being brand faithful is OK, but it has it's limits. Nobody should have to spend $40,000.00 on a vehicle only to have it die on the side of the road.

I don't care who's emblem is on the hood, that is just plain sad. They all have issues, some just worse than others.

i've seen more '05 powerstrokes broken down on the side of the road than any other truck. my cummins is not perfect, in fact it has some serious oil leak problems, but its never left me stranded.

I got my CTD last March when I came back from deployment. Two other Marines that I worked with bought 6.ohno's. The captain's was back to the dealer 3 times in the first 4 months (injector wiring replacement, rough idle, etc.). The other Marine was a Gunny that retired last July. I've talked to him a few times since then and he's always touting how well his truck his truck was running. Few months ago I asked him how his tranny was doing (slow to shift between reverse and drive). He said that he had noticed it was doing that and would take it to be looked at. Next time we talked he said that the dealer said that there wasn't anything wrong with the tranny but he was currently without his truck. Asked why and was told that he was getting a new engine put in. Seems that his heads warped and lost coolant and trashed the motor. I've had mine for 16 months with 60,000+ on the odometer and mine has only been in to get the white smoke TSB and I didn't even have the white smoke problem. Just wanted the increased fuel mileage.

Im with you on that

not forgeting the 350 conversion diesels or the 6.2.... both swings and misses for chevy gmc.. if you are gonna get a ford, gt a 7.3, i see them here in the lots much less time than a 6.0.. infact cruisin in the lots one particular one down here already has three 6.0s in the lot, 2 of which were traded in for 7.3's..

Both my uncles have 2003 7.3 liter duallies, four wheel drive decked out, one beige with blue two tone, and one is green with beige two tone.. Both BOMBED quite nicely for towing, I estimate them both at 400 plus easily, both automatics, and both are NOT FOR SALE... with 61 and 64K miles who could blame them? i love both of those trucks... they are nice... and gosh darn do they run and pull!!
