Extending bed walls with wood

I have a reg. 8' bed. I want to use stakes to raise the walls to carry more "stuff". Is there a legal limit as to how high I can extend it? I'll probably not exceed the roof line of cab...but just curious and want to be in regulations.

Thanks

You shouldn't have any problems putting on cab high side boards.

Memories...

When I was a kid we outfitted our '68 3/4 ton Ford that way and took up in the mountains to get a cord of wood. On the way down a nasty sidehill-switchback all that weight pushing on the bed caused the entire side of the bed to peel off (spot welds popped) and our cord of wood went rolling down the hill to the next switchback. Lots of fun. Hopefully the Dodge bed is somewhat better.

^ Those ought to have blinking lights on top to warn passing aircraft.

hey the guy is a foot ball coach for the traveling team, brings the goal posts with him....... but I would not go much more than 4 foot over top of cab at an absolute maximum.
