Email from my wife....

A little background for ya first. I just started a project of swapping a cummins into my wifes vehicle (2000 Excursion) this past saturday. So she has had to drive my truck (twins, 3850 FB clutch, etc, etc) yesterday and today taking the kids to school and picking them up. The plan was to continue this until the Excursion is finished. Here's the email I just got from her...

hey, honey, for some reason every time i drive your truck... my left lower back hurts... (clutch)... and my right shoulder hurts..(gear shift)... and i have this huge adrenaline rush as i'm pushing it through the gears... (can't imagine why you like this truck)... i smoked out the neighbors a total of 11 times so far this week...(kinda fun)... anyway, when i try to down shift... it just won't go into fourth ever... oh, and i'm usually not strong enough to get it into 3rd either... so i have to slow down to turn... then push the clutch and put it in 2nd... that's the reason i can't downshift appropriately... i'm not strong enough... do you think maybe i've ripped out the transmission???... oh, and i spun the tires a time or two also... : ) have a nice day... : )

Know the feeling. My wifeey drive about 5 miles each way to work and the groc. store & target is on the way there she drives a 02 LS1-vette. to step out of that and get into a 4dr 4wd dually she can instantaiously aquire a fit of road rage and becomes very brave with my little girl
and she wonders why I usually drive most places.

I let my wife take my truck to work and she works in town. The first think she does is smoke some guy in a little car. Then she proceeds to tell me she raced some kid at a red light and beat him, and when she gets to work the whole office can hear her pull in and the think there's a dump truck pullin up. In walks my wife to work and they are just blown away that she can drive the BIG truck that is stick shift. she shrugs her shoulders and says piece of cake. I love it

Let me qualify this short story by saying my wife and I are well on the downhill side of 50...I've been a gearhead all my life so I can't leave anything alone but I figured I was in for a fight when I built my Harley engine (below) but she surprised me but saying she now felt safer passing when we rode "2-up" so I get the new beta box...she's askin' what's so special about the box, I said get in and drive, she's driven this truck quite a bit stock...so off we go (level 2 on the box) she says it really runs much better now...not so sluggish...so with a grin I reach down and click it up to level 4, we're rolling along in 4th so she slaps the pedal down and says "EXPLETIVE" but shifts into 5th and keeps gettin' it...she slowed at about 90...guess I'm a pretty lucky old fart!!! (she has her own motorcycle too)
