EGR engines
With great disgust I've been reading about these new EGR engines. It sounds to me like it's going to make engines a whole lot less reliable and more expensive to operate... What are your guy's thoughts and experiences with these engines? If a guy got one of those things and took all that EGR stuff off and ran it that way would they make themselves a candidate for a fine? Sounds to me like I wouldn't want one under my hood...

Re:EGR engines
EGR= Exhaust Gas Recurcliation valves have been used since the 80's in the US.. It actually increases engine reliability. It cools combution cylinder temps.

It seems the more people talk abotu performance issues and restrictions the divisions put on cars. If you need to remove your air pumps to make 8 more horse power. You should not be building hig performance cars or trucks. If you can not find another way to pick-up the 8 horse power that it gives.. serious problems...

You remove the EGR system and the engine will overheat and melt the pistons. A freind did it in a Nissan show truck, since he could not get the part chrome he left it out. Drove it out of the show and on the ride home the pistons got white hot...

Becareful of chips also. After market chips for Mustangs and Camaros that they are charging you $250 for. The only thing they do is remove the EGR valve and change the shift points. That why Hyperchip and JET performance make you change the thermostat to 160.. because if you left the factories 195 in there the engine would melt..

Careful what you buy... Reprogram the proms done just buy chips...
