Duramax terrible MD truck engine...

Yeah, there's a like new 2wd 4500 crew at the local Dodge dealer... That engine is really in there tight.
Apparently the owner found out that the rig (no hauler body with a goose ball) doesn't get around well in the winter...
I don't know why anyone would order a C4500 or 5500 in 2wd.
If you didn't need 4x4, why wouldn't you go with the C6500 and get the Cat 6? OR go Ford F650 with Cummins or Cat, or the M2 Freightliner...
The only real appeal for me of the 4500 and 5500 is that it's not a 6.0, has a bigger than pickup cab, and is 4x4...

Glad to hear that about the Cummins in the FL. Not that I need to buy one anytime soon.
The perfect engine for the FL60, 70s would be a Cummins ISL in RV trim. 1200 ftlbs, 400 HP and it only weighs 1530 pounds. The Cat 3126s weighed 1350 and made 300 HP with 860 ftlbs. I dunno what the C7s weigh. The ISL could be geared for 1500 RPM. The 3126 needed 2200 RPM to get the job done.

The ISC is gone from on-road and the ISL was way behind Cat meeting the 2.5 g/l NOx limits

Hmm thats funny. I seen 3 M2's in transit a month ago with ISC's and an American Lafrance M2 ladder truck with an ISC last week. ISC is stil being used in on road applications.

I suspect these are credit engines.
