Yeah. When Ford bought Cummins they got the rights to the VW Duramax crankshafts as part of the deal. A proprietary design.
Now VW is involved in the Ford/Navistar lawsuit. It turns out you have to pull the VW bodies off to install the new cranks. It's an unforseen consequence of big corporate comingling. A new world order kind of thing. Meanwhile, Chevy has quietly reduced the top speed of the Duramax pickups to only 149 MPH. A TSB on the subject is being downplayed. The official policy is that anyone bragging about speeds over 150 MPH will immediately be suspected of exagerating or failing to get the new TSB service, thus voiding their warrantee.
So far, Cummins has escaped any blame. Rumor on the street is that some Cummins drivers are out on vacation and not concerned in any way.

CO? They got some pretty big hills. Maybe they radared him falling off a cliff and the crank broke when it hit bottom.
He it's possible, they are so aerodynamic I can feel my truck hug those turns better when I'm doing over 100mph

Everything is starting to make sense now. I think whats been overlooked here is the merger between VW and Caterpillar for that new upside down rotary plastic crank version of the Yugo. Its easy to change the crank on it...you just flip it over on its lid.
Yeah thats it.
Go Cummings

You guys crack me up
Just as a side note...had my old 98 up to 138mph (GPS) ONCE...I'd hate to see another 20mph above that. I was on 285/65R18 and she felt fine, but the truck suspension was bouncing all over. 551/1083 at the time.
But since you guys already decided it was a story....

Then I got to talking to a guy that knows tires and after what he told me about the rotating mass of the E rated tires I had on there...I did not run that fast again. Well, at least not while anyone else was around.

Well I do remember having to pull the frame for a crank install. But the speed thing...my tires are mud grapplers and only rated to like 80 or a lil more and they have seen +105 and it was a lil scary. She's never seen it again tho but she's seen 60 off-road and still couldn't catch my buds rail....wich to me is about x10 scarrier and my crank hasn't broke in my cummings. Hahaha
