If you live somewhere that there is a lot of rain and your rig sits for extended periods of time after said rains than yes. The water won't make it into you engine persay but it may sit in the exhaust bends and cause rust; not to mention if there is any kind of build up you run the risk of blowing black, oily/sooty water all over your paint and the guy next to you. If it only rains on occasion and you are going to drive it soon after i wouldn't worry about it (unless that those occasions are down poors). The water will soon cook out. If it concerns you that much simply install pipes with turn outs (bull haulers) or clapers. I always thought the clapsers looked cool though they don't seem very popular with the p-up crowd. I don't have stacks on my rig (yet) but i have taken plenty a black bath from tractors that no one botherd to cap. If you don't like clapers; old coffee cans work very well. Just remeber to take them off or they will blow off just high enough to come crashing down on your roof or hood.

Clappers are way cool. I'd love to see them on a Dodge.

I saw a chopper with them once. It was beyond rediculous.

Most people will drill an 1/8" hole in the lowest section of exhaust to let the accumulated water drain out. This way minimal water lays in the exhaust, and little to no soot showers are given.

Motion seconded.... lol, I used to cover them, then I realized I was way to lazy for that idea . In the winter if a big snow storm is on the horizon I will cover them thats about it.

Ya if the truck is running then the water will dry. If the truck sits in a storm for awhile then mine will throw black flakes and goo all over, but that isn't any big deal to me.

surelly youve seen them on tractors. its just a hinged piece of flat steel that lays over the stacks and then they "flap" or open when exhaust is passed through them.
