Drink up, Isuzu needs more beer cans...

Today's edition of Autotech Daily is reporting that Isuzu is going to be building 18,000 more Duramaxi's. They're supposed to be going into GMC Savannah and Chevy Express vans. Dmax built approx. 173,000 engines last year, expects 194,000 this year, and 200,000 next year according to a report in Nikkei Business Daily.

What's interesting is that only the civilian H1 is getting the Dmax. The military version still keeps the old 6.5. Gee, I wonder why?

Read my comment again, I wasn't knocking it. Your mileage is the reason the military is still using them. I want to see a Dmax with 275,000 miles

Because we still have THOUSANDS of parts for the 6.5s that would be useless if they switched.

6.5s are gutless, but they work, as long as you replace the warped heads every couple thousand miles or so

Just to clarify, your saying the H1 is the civilian version of the basic military Humvee? The H2 is a whole different animal and is based on the Chevy Tahoe chassis. It's also 1/2 the price of the H1.
