General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

Does this seem like a good deal

Visibly the truck looks good in the picture, I just didn't know if this was a little high for an automatic with that many miles on it, even though it is a quad cab 12 valve. Is there anything that I should be looking for on the auto when I go to look at it tomorrow other than slop when it shifts? Also, how much could I tow with this setup (I doubt that I will ever tow much more than 7K and it would be rare to tow more than 5K, this will be used mostly as my driver to go hunt and do ranch work).

is it quad cab or extended cab? Quad cabs were not available until 1998 , which was also the first for the short box, if it is a 4 door , it's gotta be at least a 98 , and by that serial # , if it is a 98 , it is also a 24v...

welp, thanks for that info, the seller told me that it was a 12 valve and I thought that I might have finally found one. How did you know that it was a 24 valve, b/c of the 24 in the last 8 digits?

nope , by the 8th digit of the VIN a D means 12v , and a 6 means 24v

Look here : http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/specs/VIN_decode.htm In the 8th position , 6 is the overvalved truck , and the D is the properly valved truck.
