One of the best mechanics I have ever had the privilege to meet is a Mexican American, so I haven’t any fear of the skills down below the border. All races of people are very capable.

I have to say I fear the Chrysler electrical gremlins more than the assemblers.

our Dodge trucks are only assembled in Mexico. They are 93.7 percent manufactored parts are made in the USA unlike Nissen/Toyota which are less than 30 percent of their parts are made here but because they are assembled here they can claim "made in the USA".
Ford/GM 2500/3500 trucks are 90.3/89.7 respectivly USA made parts. This info comes from Detroit News web at time of Nissen advertizing their new biggest truck was American made. Both 2500 DodgeCummins trucks I bought, '01 and '03, were assembled in Saltillo,MX. Fit and finnish looks great on both trucks as MX is just a assy point.

I know they used to. My 95 ram gasser was and it was the best vehicle I ever owned as far as quality goes. My 05 is right up there to. I thought Tomeygun said there were going to start building some Cummins rams there in 06.

My 95 gasser dodge was built in Warren Michigan, my current 2002 diesel was built in Mexico. I dunno if its just the difference in years but the Mexican built truck seems to be a better quality and has had less gremlins in it.

The point is Nissan , Toyota , and Mercedes have bulit plants in this country to give Americans jobs . Ford , GM , and Chrysler bulit plants out of the country and closed plants eliminating American jobs .

That is because the exchange rate and import fees are not part of the deal and they can say made in USA. Ford, GM, and Chrysler built plants in other countries for similar reasons, it raises their profit level.

Look back at purchasing a vehicle or any other item made in Japan or Europe and between the currancy exchange rate and import taxes the prices were higher. This cut into company profits. By assemblying them here they make jobs, (good PR) and even after paying the union labor costs they still make more money.

With GM, Ford, and Chrysler moving to Mexico and such along with NAFTA, they avoid the import fees and pay lower wages thus larger profits.

I'm far from anti-union but if a Mexican worker isn't up to par it's adios.
In the US you're stuck with him.
Makes the Mexican worker strive to do their best.

I've always wondered why my truck can't pass a Taco Bell parking lot without turning in......NOW I know why.

It's kind of ironic that 2 of our trucks that are from Mexico don't have the 53 blocks and the the one from U.S. is a 53 Block.
