Dodge DRW vs Ford SRW video.

I was cruising Youtube.com and found this video. It was a little unfair to hook a DRW to a SRW, but it sure is fun to see!!!

Gale Banks might be onto something....
trying to remember the exact quote
He says "Smoke is power you'll never use".

That common rail with no smoke is running nitrous, that's why there is no smoke.

i'd hook my DRW to any Ford SWR and not feel bad about pulling them.... especially since mine is 2x4 and that ford was a 4x4....

What IS Diesel Smoke?
Partially burned fuel.....right?
Aaaand, if you could completely burn ALL of that fuel?........more power, right or wrong?

I'm not a tree-hugger, just calling a spade a spade.

No. For maximum engine output the fire must still be going strong when the valves open. Thus, smoke. Yes there is fuel being wasted, but that's a different issue than what the engine will produce. If you want complete combustion you won't be getting all the power the engine will produce, but you won't be wasting fuel and making smoke either. So the question is are you refering to wasted energy (smoke) or maximum output (smoke). Big difference. It doesn't make sense to try to make more power by eliminating smoke. Make more power by pumping in more air and feeding it all the fuel it can handle. It doesn't have to smoke like a sled puller because there is a point of diminishing returns or a point of being just plain ridiculous, but if you're going for all you can get, it's goona be smoky.

Agreed, Hazey smoke at WOT makes sense in that case.
Trucks that look like this leaving every stoplight will only hasten the introduction of emmissions testing of diesel powered vehicles.

Shovelhead,

Yeah, and I just don't get it when people are so proud of how much smoke they can produce. Virtually everyone that spots it must think diesels are a big problem. You know, the typical thing, " I'd never but a smoky diesel", or "they should be banned", etc. I talk diesels up to to everyone who's interested. They are the future for both mileage and performance.
Maybe I'm just getting old, but I can't see just trying to break my equipment. I drive a lot and I drive in remote areas. Dependability and fuel mileage are important to me.
