Diy Bed Liners

Has anyone had good luck with DIY spray in bed liners and if so what brand?

The only thing I have had experience with is the Herculiner DIY liner. I put it on my chrome bumpers and nerf bars. Not a spray on application, brush or roller. I have a XTreme spray in bed liner for the bed. Would have had it Line-X if there was a dealer anywhere close. I have used Line-x in a number of previous trucks and it is the best IMO.

The Herculiner has only been on the bumpers for about 5 months but so far it is holding up fine.

I am not sure I would trust it for a bed that is going to be used for work. Like anything preperation is the key. Cleaning, scuffing properly and pre solvent take time, but seem to work for what I did.

I used Gator Guard on an older F250, spent a lot of time on the prep, it stuck OK and would take some abuse but not as tough as Line-X or the other professionally done brands. It also faded from black to dark gray over the summer.
The truck I did was white, if I did it again I would paint the sides of the bed black before I did it. It just took to much to cover the white and I don't think you really need a super thick coat on the sides.
But it was just a work truck, so it was good enough.
I used a sprayer just like the type used for undercoating.

Herculined my old truck. Would not do it again
Preparation is the key (and a major PITA), as stated above. Even with good prep, it won't hold up too long in the bed under working conditions. Went on thin and chipped easily.
There is one danger from applying this stuff yourself: Do a google search on the word "hootus"

Here is what I just did...
full write up in 1st Gen Section:
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=235554

I will say it has only been about week and half since i did it.. so it will be a little while before I can give a good yes or no to do this yourself

I used..http://www.secondskinaudio.com/produ...y-bedliner.php

So I first sand blasted my bed, since it had some thick paint already on it, then I sanded it and then cleaned it.. WOW that was a lot of work..

after all the prep was done I taped off the truck and got to work.. I wanted to go over the bed rails since my bed rails were already scrtach and I knew I would probably get more scratches in the future.

So the bad news is I lost all the pics during the prep process.. CRAP

So I took the camera back outsdie today and took new pics of the finished truck..
this is up close shot

another up close to show texture
