DieselTruckResource TOM March 2005
Another month has quickly passed.
Too darned quickly
Caught the 'ole Shovelhead snoooozin'.
We're gonna go a little off the beaten path this month.
We've chosen a member who not only works his truck, but loves our beloved Cummins so much, he transplanted in a 12 valve.
His gallery shows only a little of the work involved in the project.
I'm sure it was very much a labor of love.
I hope he will give us more info on the work involved and maybe share some issues he overcame along the way that will help others who might be considering a similar project
The members of the TOM committee, Ed, Joel and Dennis, along with our TOM sponsor
Forest City Diesel
are happy to announce that the winner of the
DieselTruckResource.com
Truck Of the Month
award forMarch 2005
is:
59FORD

Congrats again from the team to 59FORD for being selected as Truck Of the Month.
Your TOM plaque will be sent your way via snail-mail from our sponsor Forest City Diesel as soon as we receive your mailing info.
It doesn't have to be a beauty queen, or a hardcore stump-pullin, rip snortin', tire-fryin' monster machine.
Just upload some pics into your gallery (that's where we surf).
Who knows,....yours could be the next to join our winners in the TOM gallery.
'Til next month (hopefully I'll have my head back on straight by then)
Y'all B safe

A BIG Thank You, to you and the team for the TOM honors!
I don't know what to say. I try to keep things as neat as I can and still work
my truck. I know most of the folks here are .... Dodge people. I chose my Super Suty
for the transplant due to the fact that Ford has the best frame to handle the weight
I haul and the fact that I have disk brakes on the rear and Dodge didn't have them till 2000.
Once again I am humbled by your TOM honor.

Congrats, that's pretty cool. Do I see a Cummins Power sign under the F350 sign on the front fender?

NO F350 here.... It's a "REAL" Super Duty and YES there is a Big CUMMINS POWER badge.

What year's the engine??
Great looking truck...me and a friend are trying to get a hold of an '89 Super Duty to do "close" to the same thing. By "Close" I mean it's gonna be working, but as a bucket truck (He's an Electrician)
Once Again, Congrats on the Cool Rig,
Chris

Isn't it interesting that you don't see Dodges with Powerstrokes or Duramaxes swapped in?
Hey TOM judges, I think you should have used this picture, much more impressive load.

The engine is a 92 that was a Cummins Recon in 94, CPL 804.
This truck was a 460 EFI till the swap. I will WARN others about trying to use
the Ford ZF transmissions. The Cummins ate the first one after only 3000 miles
and the second one in 1500 miles. They can't take the torque of the "Little 59"
This is FACT not fiction.
Thanks for all the pretty flowers from everyone!!

That was the BEST 57 body I've seen in 30 years!! ZERO rust, too bad it went to Ohio
to end it's life.
If you look at the 4 car haul it will net you $100 ticket in Ohio and $135 in Michigan.
The "load length" was 64 feet, they count from sheet metal to sheet metal, not the bumpers.
The FEDs say "...load and or trailer shall not exceed 53 ft" if you don't get caught.
