The driveabillity alone towing with a diesel is why most folks go with diesel over gas. People are freekin out about the price difference, diesel has always been higher in the winter, this winter has been very cold so hence the price difference. Algae is often talked about here and in the 30+ years of diesel repair have seen 1 instance. Leaving a diesel sitting for long periods of time will not hurt it, you will have other problems happen to the truck/rv or whatever, like rusted exhaust, brake lines, brake rotors or drums, roted tires, etc.

Unless you wreck the truck, if you drive it into the ground, chances are you got your money out of the engine. We all know that these things last for a long time, so if they got 400k, 500k, etc. out of the engine, it was probably worth the $5000 premium at purchase.

you can buy a crate small block chevy for what it costs to install a single injection pump on a 24v second gen. On average how many vp's does the normal truck go through? one? two? and thats just one part.

Anyways im not arguing, because i obvously have a diesel

When we were still farming we would just park the tractors for winter (approx. 6 months) then in the spring we would change fuel filter, oil, oil filter, air filter, start them, use them another 6 months and repeat.

Fuel additive might be cheap insureance, other than that don't worry about it.
