I agree with the economics portion...my wife says when I tell her how much the oil is for the exploder, how could I tell her I need 12 quarts of synthetic oil for my truck....I guess for me it's just a matter of money. Scientifically syns sound better from reading various things...but as far as best dino oil go what is the best?? Apples to apples, you say potatoe I say potato...or something like that.. So it comes down to what you know, someone posted they used a certain oil growing up on the farm, something daddy used years ago. What brand you identify with or just good ol' fashion research and forming your own opinion. Like I said, no problems out of my exploder running mobil 1. (insert me knocking on wood here!!

Why would anyone NOT run the Fleetguard Stratapore ? Absolute best filter for the Cummins & only 10 bucks . Get mine delivered to the door from Scheid diesel along with a case of Stanadyne PF and usually have my order in 1-2 days . Personally I have used Delo 400 and Mobil Delvac ,switching to
Valvoline Premium Blue synth with a 1 -mic bypass filter tomorrow . Preferred Dlevac as it seemed to flow a bit better when temps get cold . JUST SAY NO TO THE WIX NAPA ECONO FILTERS !!!

humm all this reading has made me come to wonder if what im running is ok...so do you guys think this is ok:

i used to run a fram......not any more since ive read this! i put a napa brand filter on here, ive seen one cut open they seem well constructed, and i run EXXON 15w-40, recommended for heavy duty diesel engines.....

we run that in our cat roadgrader, cat D6 bulldozer and all of our cat skid steers......so i figured if its good enough to run threw a 50,000 piece of equipment, then it wont hurt my truck

Yep, I work at a Dodge dealership and I have seen 2 engines that needed to be replaced, due to the POS Fram filters.
Why the heck would you skimp to save a few dollars on a filter, on a $40K truck???

I had never even heard of Schaeffer's products til I started reading BITOG. Lots of interesting information on many different, lubrication-related subjects.

Schaeffer's started in 1839 building greases for wagon wheels &, today, is the oldest family-owned oil company in the nation.

If anyone checks-out BITOG, look into the "Bypass Filter Forum". Bypass filters in conjunction with quality synthetics can equal long, extended oil drain intervals. For those that do a lot of driving (towing commercially) one of these systems might be something to consider.

You guys do realize BITOG works for Shaeffer's, right?

Here is a reply from lucas oil about Bob the oil fraud.

Bob's the oil guy works for Schaeffer Lubricants. We have tried the exact
same tests in our labs and could not come up with the same result.

Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer is a 100% petroleum additive with
anti-foaming additives. It has helped extend the life, lower maintenance
costs and improve performance of millions of cars, trucks and Heavy Duty
Vehicles as well and countless high performance racers since 1985.
