The City that I am closest to has some idling laws as well. I think it is you can not idle your vehicle (Gas or Diesel) for more than 5 minutes....Unless it is below -5, or warmer than +27 (celcius).
I'm pretty sure that is the way it is right now (unless they have changed it). I don't have a turbo timer (yet), but I can take my keys out of my ignition while the truck is running. When I go into Tim Hortons, Variety Store, etc I will take my keys out, lock the doors and go into the store...leaving the truck running. I've yet to have anything said to me *knock on wood*.

All this is just beginning to filter down to pickups, big trucks been dealing with it for a while. It is not going away, better get used to it and decide how to handle it, smoking them is not the answer.
Maybe a good spinoff to all this. All the tree huggers migrate to Kalifornia and they have their own country. My truck does not go there and will not.
