I would love for all of the car company's to not sell any more new cars to CA and any other state that makes more strick regulations than what the Feds have. Wonder how they would like that idea of not getting any more sales tax because they no longer have new cars to sell!

In Arlington, TX, its now illegal. Not because of smog, but because people stealing vehicles. I went and asked a Police Officer at the APD booth at the car show last year, about locking the doors and coming back to it (or anything like that), and they said they'd still give you a $200 fine for it. I actually mentioned turbo timers, and he said he'd never heard of those and thought they were illegal too.

Ha.

We have some anti idling laws up here too at the university. I let my truck run just a little longer, just because I can...

That's what's funny to me about this story. 1st gens put out a big black puff every time you start them, it probably pollutes less to idle it for half an hour.

i live in the san fransisco bay area and i will tell you that the only people who like diesel trucks own them. everyone else thinks they are garbage and polluters i got pulled over and was given a speeding ticket because the cop said it sounded like i was going fast?!? so he wrote me up for going 45 in a 30 what i find to be funny is i was in third gear and converter not locked... everyone here with a 47re trans knows that it is impossible to be going 45 mph in third without the converter locking. he then said maybe i should remove the stack and take the gauges off and it wont draw so much negative attention. so i got the ticket spit on it put my blinker on drove away slowly while giving a nice sign letting the officer know i thought he was number one. lol i have also been in traffic and had people ask me to shut my truck off because they couldnt hear their bluetooth over my truck. sometimes i wish i still had my old exhaust coming out the rear fender so i could blow smoke directly into there windows. im moving to canada or alaska within the next 10 years if it gets any worse.

I stopper at the local convenience store one morning and the the nj motor vehicle commission guys were standing out front. I pulled my truck right up in front of them and the no idling sign set the timer and jumped out. When I walked by one guy said that will get you a ticket. I said You are allowed to Idle 2 minutes. He said it will take you longer than that so I will have your ticket ready when you come out. I said that thing wont be running in 2 minutes and walked away. When I came out he said I was a smart ***. I just told him to have a nice day and I went on my way..

I would have done the same thing I always do when someone tells me to shut my truck off. Smoke them out repeatedly. I'm not talking a little puff, I'm talking give him lung cancer. The next time he will be keeping his mouth shut to avoid the black plague getting shot in his face.

They wanted me to shut mine off at my daughters school when I drop her off in the morning. I told the drop off gal it shot out more smoke on start up than it did idling for 30 seconds.

Noticed the other day all the no idle zone signs are gone. Who knows.

well smoken the jack booted thug would of got me in more trouble he was not your standard rent a thug because I think there not allowed to carry heat and this guy was loaded with stuff .
You know I try real hard to be a stellar citizen But I am really starting to hate COPS . because it seems the real criminals are back on the streets in hours and the ones who have something to loose (law abiding) are constantly being harassed and money taken from them in some sort of gov. fine, here in the fascist state on Kalifornia .

PS I have cop friends who feel the same way but they have to enforce whats on the books and think this state is out of controle

I had been told several times to turn one of my work trucks off when unloading cause of noise or smog or what ever stupid reason they give me. I just smile and ask them if they would like to buy the rest of the ice off the truck when it melts. Sorry I don't care what the rules or laws are any where I don't think turning refrigeration units off in the summer is a good idea. Really scared the hell out of some people when it would start itself when I was out of the truck lol.

You Will note that city buses are exempted. At least AC Transit is,the green Express units idle for a 1/2 hour or more.Ask the driver..."I don't be known anything about dat and I don't be having the phone number of my dispatcher".
