Well according to the Sea Foam can, one can treats 25 gallons so I went ahead and put 1 1/2 cans in. I've got a full tank so it should be diluted enough. Before my next oil change I plan on dumping it in the oil. With 103k miles and with over half of those very smokey, I figure the engine could use a good cleaning.

If it is a BG product it will be a 2 or 3 part kit. One part that is sprayed in the intake, one part that is added to a tank of fuel, and the third part that is run through the fuel system which runs the truck. If it is anything like their gas stuff it will be awesome. Good MPG increase when done correctly. I have ran it many times on Gas engines. On my gas vehicles I just run the can of cleaner in the tank every 10,000 miles and clean the throttle body. Works better than anything you can buy off the shelf at Wall Fart or AutoJonesin.

Sea Foam
When I change the fuel filter, I fill the cannister up with Sea Foam, instead of "filling" it with fuel via the lift pump. I'll also dump what little is left, along with a full can, into the fuel tank. Also, mix it in my 2.5 gallon gas jug that I have for the lawn mower and snow blower. Also use it in the gas tank of my older Goldwing cycle.
If anybody dumps it into the carb/intake system to clean out the carbon buildup in the upper end, pay attention to the "caution" on the can......the exhaust really SMELLS BAAAADDDD!!!! Do not do this inside an enclosed space . I did a grain truck engine years ago that I had (did it outside), and even in the open air, the smell was terrible.

This sounds like the high margin-type "service" shops and stealerships love to sell. Costs them next to nothing to collect your 150 bucks and what do they care what it may or may not do to the vehicle over the long run.
A good running engine maintained that way with proper fuel adds and other routine maintenance should never need this type service.

Well this shop has a pretty good reputation around here and after talking with the guy I feel very confident in that he's not just trying to make a quick buck but that he's actually very confident that this machine does work. Is it worth $150? Probably not but who knows. I may try it one day if I feel rich.

I use the regular seafoam as a fuel stabilizer plus I use in the bike and lawnmower.

im a vw dude, and sometimes we use this stuff made by "lubro-moly"
called "diesel purge"
what we do is disconnect the inlet +outlet(fuel)
and basically rig a fuel line setup so you can run it out of the can of purge, its like a qt,and my car will run off it for 10-20 mins just sitting there, and revving it up once in a while
since you guys have those lift pumps and all that,id put this stuff,or 2 cans of it cut in half with diesel, and run it out of a small gas can
since that stuff is cheaper,id use it first, before some possible several hundred dollar service, ithink its around 10 bux?a can, look around for it

For any of yall in the college station/bryan area, the place is called hill's automotive (hope I don't step on any toes here, if so then let me know). I'm about a needle width away from doing it. I've run used oil, 2 stroke oil, lucas, sea foam, diesel clean, STP, all sorts of stuff through my truck so I figured that maybe a good cleaning will help.

I have never heard anything bad about that company... and believe me... If there is anything bad about a mechanic shop in town... I WILL hear about it! It is the nature of my business (quick lube)... everyone feels the need to tell me the horror stories.
