How convinent was that?
How about keep enough surplus on hand incase of a disaster or a plant having to go down by at least a month. The company would still get paid for it.
That would be like the edison company saying "we dont have enough electricity for your house" but for a dollar more we do have some.

It all revolves around the mighty $ and the oil companies have just found out that more and more people are switching to diesel.

Watch for the economy in California to tank as soon as the prices rise out of sight for anything that gets trucked! Where are the truckers protesting around the state capitol?

I know the guy who owns the rights to Ryder truck rentals in Ca. There was a 19% fuel surcharge on every Ryder rental as of May this year, I'll bet that has gone to 25% by now!

I just got back in town (Bakersfield) and was surprised to see that diesel prices had reached $3.15 at Chevron. I've never seen gas prices starting with the number "3," so it's kinda scary. I just bought the truck not too long ago too, and now it looks like I'm gonna have to drive it only when I have to. The Honda for everything else.

Its silly and ridiculous is what it is.. Not only do they have a refinery problem, but they also ship gobs of fuel to Chile? Arrgh.

Prices here may not be 3/gal yet, but they've risen .20/gal in the last week. I would not expect them to go down right near labor day, either...

They gave up and just add on a fuel surcharge to the freight.

Is this happening all over?

As of this morning...Standard Octane Gas went up $.07 to $2.28 a Gal.
Our Diesel stayed as was.....................$2.12 a Gal.

Not complaining, but this makes no sense either...does it? At least Diesel is back below gasoline, where it should have been all along. Or maybe Diesel will go up again with next tanker load?

Also, FAR from complaining...but we (Oklahoma) repeatedly have the second lowest diesel prices in the country. Second only to The Gulf Coast-Mobile, Alabama area. We are lower than Texas...which makes no sense to me either?

Talked the boss into buying a DC fuel pump for my traveling and carry a 55 gal. Drum of Diesel when heading North or West. Probably not legal but not questioned when tucked in with other drums. Pump pd. for itself in one year!

Gas took a jump here in Tampa. Not surprised as it's tourist season here. Traffic is as thick as ever and no one is slowing down or driving less. I just paid $2.399 for 89 octane and the diesel pump next to me was $2.499.

Diesel will go up even more when they claim to start making home heating oil in september. More demand.

Diesel here is the same price as premium unleaded--$2.349 the last time I filled up at the corner Texaco. Some stations are $0.10 or so more expensive.

You guys in California and the Northwest are killing me. I'm heading that way in September and October and diesel could be $4.00 a gallon by then if this is any indication.

Now it's back down to $3.16 this morning. What the heck? In the last 24 hours it's gone from $3.16 to $3.19 to $3.16.
