Did water kill them??????
A couple of weeks ago it came a real toad choker here. The water was almost a foot deep in places on the road. Being the immature kid I am....... I drove through the water fast to throw some waves.
Next day, truck has lost power and is bucking like a bronco. I check my codes and Im getting a 0236 and a 0237.
Took it to the dealer and they replaced both the iat and map sensors.
Question is: Did my driving fast through the water and flooding my engine bay do the damage, and why?
Thanks for any responses.

It probably soaked the electrical connections to the sensors.
Drying them out and a quick spray with WD-40 might have solved the problem without having to replace them....but then who knows?

Shovelhead,
yeah, that was my thinking as well, wet. I couldn't get the connector off the map sensor or I would have done it myself. Cost me 400 bucks just because I couldnt get a connector off.
Do you know if there is a special tool required to get in there and release the connector?
Has anyone else had a problem getting their map sensor out?
Thanks.

That's why I lifted my truck. I can go through higher water faster and not worry as much.
In all seriousness though, I've done the same thing and my check engine light came on and my alternator dropped to 0. I parked it for a couple of hours and let it dry and fired it back up and have been running ever since with no issues. That was over 40k miles ago.

Seeing the Cummins computer is on the side of the oil pan with about a million strand wires going into it, I'd cool it on puddles. A friend of mine had his newer car power washed under the hood, and after two years and a couple attorneys, he ended up with a new car, the electronics were so bad the dealer didn't know how to fix it.
