Cummins Swap into Chevy
My step son just came back from Indy with me. He's in love with the Cummins now. He has a 83 Chevy half ton he was about to put a 383 in. Now he's kinda hung up on a cummins swap, especially after seeing that 70 chevy/Cummins at Indy. Anyone tried this route before? I'm figuring it to be very expensive.

you'll need some different axles for sure, along with front suspension work, then comes the basic swap stuff like probably some frame strenghtening for the mounts etc... Big job but it would be fun...

Cmmins beast, shouldnt be too bad, I assume you mean 4WD?
PM me, Ive got a 79 GMC 3/4 ton with a 4BT in it that I'm going to yank out and part the rest out, it would be a good starting point for a whole lot less money than converting one yourself.......
P.S. I wouldn't bother with the 6BT, the 4 BT makes enough power to yank anything a 3/4 ton needs to.....

I met a guy at Speedway the other day that had a Cummins in his Chevy. Had a 3'' lift and mud tires on it. Said he had a 4cyl Cummins and this is his third truck he's done.
Claimed to get 27mpg out of it!

If youre handy its not that bad to do . Go over to www.turbodieselregister.com and look in the conversion forum.
You cant look more than a few days back unless you buy a membership. If youre serious it will definatly help out though.
