if it has spark plugs it aint a diesel.john deer use to make engines that ran on kerasine ignited by spark but they are not diesel engines.is that guy for real?

John Deere's not the only one that made tractors the ran on low grade fuels like kerosene. They would be started on gas and brought up to operating temp then they would be switched over to kerosene. They where low compression ratio engines, 4.5:1 so they could tolerate low grade fuels.

There was an engine that ran on diesel fuel, but was not compression ignition, it had spark plugs along with an injection pump. It had a lower compression ratio that a diesel would have had. Can't remember the name, but it was around in the 30's I think.

International made diesels that had spark plugs. We had a TD-6 cat that started on gas and then you switched to diesel.

But WAIT!

I have 3 sets of spark plug wires and coils made for cummins diesels
Its for the CNG engines... NOT the diesels right??

Yep spark plug on one side and injector on the other side. Just tried to fire one up that my dad had sitting for years and cracked the block made in the 50s I think So they are spark plugs on diesels.

Well at least I don't think anyone would be foolish enough to buy diesel spark plugs from him.

Farmall had a tractor (MD) that started on gas and then switched over to diesel also.
