Cummins Motor

My dad's Duramax motor had just taken a crap about 3wks ago. My dad hasn't taken the time to look for a new motor for his truck. We want to repalce the Duramax motor with a 5.9L Cummins motor. Then he was thinking about getting it resleved. The piston had went into a thousands of little pieces. But there are pretty well indintions in the motor that is at least maybe a 16th to an 8th inch deep on the side walls where the piston came up and down. Does anybody think that the motor could be resleved or should we just put the Cummins in there?

The motor must have over 100K or otherwise it would be covered.

Actually it's an engine... Motor would be eletrical.

Still haven't gotten it figured out? Why won't they warranty it?

It would probally be easier/better to buy a wrecked truck so you would be sure to have all the parts from it.

It would also have to be the same year or newer that the chassis to be legal.

The Chevy would probally require a body lift to fit the engine (the ISBs are pretty tall)

Sorry, should probably keep my mouth shut, BUT

A motor is any device that converts energy from one form to another; normally potential energy to kinetic energy.

An engine is any complex mechanical device.

Otherwise, I agree with the Texan from OK.

Either way the original poster still asked a valid question.
Hopefully one of the Chevy knowledgeable members will drop in and answer his question.

Of couse,.... us Cummins guys would suggest that the Dura??Max be dropped off at the local recycling center to be made back into soda cans.......

Figures, it must have been just outside of the 30 day search limit.......

However, this time it looks as if he's toning it down a bit and only asking about resleeving a duramax.

Don't know if the front end of the chevy could handle the weight of the Cummins, without some front end modifications. Cummins is almost double the weight, and quite a bit longer also, but could probably be done(or has been done already).
