If Jeep is after the H2 than why a diesel at all? GM put a gasser in the Hummer after they realized what it's market was.

I own a hummer and would have gotten diesel if it was available and I think alot of others would also. I get all of 11 mpg

Cummins is NOT owned by Ford. At one time Ford owned 10% of *** stock, but sold it.

I think it could be agood idea, im not really sure why people wouldnt want to compete with it. If ya bought a REAL hummer youd get the diesel fyi..... im sure you know this. But ive read many times that everyone wants a full sized SUV from dodge, and here it is. To compete with the Hummer, maybe even Excursion?

Say,, Doesn't Ford own Cummins?

Old joke. Once you understand this, you are one of the DTR members. I don't understand it yet, but do understand it's an inside joke.

Re:Cummins to introduce a 6.1L??

It appears that there is another Cummins B series in England. The Darlington Engine Plant in Darlington, England lists a B4.5/6.7 (4 and 6 cylinder engines) in addition to the B3.9/5.9 and C8.3.

http://www.cummins.com/na/pages/en/w...llocations.cfm

Also, a Nov 1. 2003 announcement on AGCO tractors mentions a new 6.7 L. Cummins engine:

http://farmindustrynews.com/ar/farmi...agco_tractors/

And Cummins says they are bringing structural B4.5 and B6.7 series engines developed in Europe to the US market:

Re:Cummins to introduce a 6.1L??

From the November 22, 2003 edition of the Toronto Star,

"Last, the heavy-duty truck segment gets a new diesel engine. Available in mid-2004, this 6.1 L Cummins-built powerplant promises 600 lb.-ft. of torque at just 1,600 rpm, behind 325 horsepower."

Actually, Navistar owns Ford...who owns Cummins...who recently acquired GM.
