Cummins engines to get B20 capabilities....
From today's edition of Autotech Daily
DCX TO DIAL UP BIODIESEL FUEL IN DODGE RAM PICKUPS
"DaimlerChrysler AG says its 2007 Dodge Ram pickups with Cummins diesel engines will be capable of running on 20% biodiesel fuel. DCX’s Chrysler Group currently factory-fills diesel-powered Jeep Liberty SUVs with 5% biodiesel. Its Dodge Sprinter vans also are capable of using the fuel. Use of organic
biodiesel—mainly made from soybeans in the U.S.—lowers emissions and substitutes for imported oil. Initially, the B20 models will be available only to military, government and commercial fleet customers. Hoping to make B20 available to consumers too, the automaker is part of a coalition to develop a national fuel standard. The government-industry initiative includes Detroit-based nonprofit NextEnergy, refiner Biodiesel Industries, Bosch, Delphi and Cummins, along with researchers at Wayne State and Michigan State Universities.............."

Wow, that's nice.
I now that Cummin's hasn't been saying anything bad about bioDiesel in the past few years; I guess this is the first time they've officially endorsed it, though?
It isn't like the older Diesel's wont run B-20, or B-50 or B-100 for that matter.

I called the local MFA co-op today and they will deliver any blend I want right to my farm storage tank. B2-B100. B100 is $3.40 per gallon delivered to my house. I can get B5 farm/off-road delivered for $2.05. Regular on road diesel is $2.40 delivered.

Gal at work tells me her husband just bought a new truck. What is it, I ask? She says its a GMC and after he bought it he decided to buy a new TT to tow behind it. Sounds like fun, I say.
Yeah, except he went down to the only place around that sells bio-diesel and filled it up. Didn't get through half the tank and the motor pretty much quit running.
Cost $500 to clean the tank out and do whatever to the engine. Guess the bio-diesel maker helped with some of the cost.
Not a great ad for bio-diesel.

On an old truck, the bioDiesel will break all of the deposits on the bottom of the tank loose, clogging the fuel filter. On a new truck, though, that shouldn't happen... Some crudy bioDiesel, obviously.
PS. Did you know that the US Armed Forces run B-20 in every Diesel vehicle they operate?

I'm still the lone fellow who has never seen a "B"anything pump, never seen a sign, nothing!

There's a few stations in your state... not sure if they are close or not!

Bummer!
I have a B20 station less than 5 miles from me and it looks like a couple more stations within 20 miles or so... over the past couple years, the list in MI has grown quite a bit!
I've ran a few tanks of B20 in my old truck... made it run quieter, didn't get all that great of mileage out of it though...
