CTD looks good according to JD Power....

Its a direct comparison to the same truck with a gas motor. The posotive percentages are more problems for the diesel ecuiped vehicle than the gasser. Negative percentages are more problems for the gasser than the diesel.
Ford powerstrokes are 430% more likely to have a problem than fords with a gasser.
I would also like to know why the diference in GMC and Chevy. I can understand some diference but thats a lot. The only thing I can think of is that GMC is considered more of a "Gentamens" truck and the Chevy is considered more of a work truck. Mayby the chevys are getting worked harder and falling short more often compared to the GMC. The GMC trucks are always a little dressier than Chevys so mayby they get bought by people using them for less abusive perposes. I dont know just a thought.

Well, working at a Ford dealer as a service writer/advisor I get to see all the 'strokes coming in EVERY day with starting problems, idle problems, quit running problems, transmission (manual and automatic) problems, etc, etc, etc. It seems the most common reasons are injectors, glow plugs, glow plug relays, and having to re-flash the computer for one reason or another.
I've tried to be objective and not slam the Fords, but when you walk outside the service bays and see an average of 6 - 8 'strokes sitting there waiting to be fixed for these same problems............
When I see all these 'strokes sitting there waiting repairs, it makes me glad that I have a Cummins that hasn't given me any problems, yet. I also have to remind myself that all three have their own particular problems so it ain't just the Ford guys, guys.

DW,
How are the new 05 SD's doing? I have a friend who is getting his new 05 via a buy back of his 03. He asks me on a daily basis if there is any news on the 05's. I used to work for Ford, and follow the dieselstopped.com for S's&G'ls, I haven't seen anything there on the 05's yet to the negative. Hope Ford gets the problems worked out for the publics sake. I would hate to see my friend go through all of the headaches again. His dealer did the buy back/trade, no out of pocket for my friend and no DSB. I wish my past expieriences with Ford were the same.

The 05's haven't been out long enough to be able to determine any problems yet. But the 03s and 04s............ You couldn't give me one of them.
We have one man who comes in an average of every-other-week with his 04 - BUT - he hauls horses all over the western US and has 98,000 actual miles on it. He's constantly in for rough idling and missing.

Awesome post !!!!! Printed that baby out for the Dodge bashing crew at work ...... lots of excuses and I have had to print it out 3 times due to it disappearing !! Boss had just ordered a new Ferd service truck with the Powerjoke and switched to a Cummins under the hood . It's a 550 or 650 chassis which you can get a Cummins in . !!!!

It would have to be the F650 or F750 to get the Cummins. My last day with this Ford job will be tomorrow. I can't handle the headaches, tension, and stresses that go with the job. And I sorta feel sorry for these poor fools who continue to by a truck that lets them down time after time after time. I've been wearing my Dodge Ram Grille Belt Buckle that I purchased from Geno's just to show my Dodge pride at a Ford dealership. After this job, I have much more respect for those Service Advisors/Service Writers at the new car dealerships. They put up with a lot of grief and other things.
I heard that Ford will be coming out with another new SUV very soon. They currently have the Excursion, the Expedition, the Explorer, and the Escape. The newest one will be called
The Excrement.

I wonder how if the Dodge CTD has 41% less problems than the gasser, yet the CTD cost 7% more to have? More expensive truck so more depreciation?! The CTD would get a lot better mileage so the fuel would cost less than the gasser.
