Cold weather ops
I have a question about cold weather driving and engine temps. Here in Denver when the winter temps are around 30 degrees I can drive all day and the coolant temp will never get above 140 degrees, this cant be good. Is it recomended to use a grill screen or cardboard in front of the radiator to help keep the engine temp up or should I keep driving the way it is? It seems driving with a cold engine would encourage carbon build up and kill fuel economy. Thanks in advance.

i think thats why most people around here get those winter grille screens.
I live in south fork, co, and when its -15 degrees my engine temp doesnt go above 170 or 180

Your truck has a large capacity, heavy duty cooling system. When the weather cools down, it will run cooler. Whether your termostat works or not, it will run cooler in winter. Don't ask me why, but it does. Mine has done this for 8 winters. Get a winter front. I mentioned in another post that FIA makes a good one. Mine is 8 years old and still like new. Website is at gofia. $50 US will get you a winterfront and a bugscreen to fit your truck. If you are ever north of the 49th, $50 Cdn would get you one too. Hope this helps. Rick
