code 0216 with no symptoms
I was playing around yesterday and pulled a P0216 code off my truck. My question is can the VP throw a code without any symptoms?? The truck performs flawlessly and has not even hiccupped. I did a fuel flow test on my lift pump and it is within spec. too. I am wondering if maybe it threw the code when I washed engine last week. Like I said, it hasn't given me any indication of any problems....
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Gary,
In our experience, the injector pumps have showed signs before going out, like stumbling, and surging. However, just last week, we replaced one that just went out one day without notice. It never showed any signs of failure, only the injector pump code we got off of it after it failed. In this case, the lift pump was still running at normal pressure too, so I think you just never know, but I know it is possible to fail without notice.

I've seen that happen from time to time. Something that can have an effect on it out here in the oven is that if the engine runs hot it can thin out the fuel enough to set the p0216 and/or the p0168 (decreased performance due to high injector pump fuel temp). We usually recommend a fuel additive to those who work there trucks hard in the desert heat. Clear the code and hope for the best.
